Removing and installing the camshaft drive chain

The camshaft and the fuel pump are driven by two-row drive chain. The drive sprocket of the camshaft and the fuel pump are twice more teeth than the sprocket of the crankshaft. Two chain Idler support chain on the one hand, and the pressure shoe, which constantly presses hydraulic tensioner damper constantly urges the chain with the other hand. Replacement of the camshaft timing chain on engine mounted on a vehicle requires some skill and experience in order to exclude the decay chain from sprocket.
To replace the camshaft drive chain to the engine mounted on the vehicle, you must have on hand a hand sander. New camshaft drive chains necessarily come with removable links, locks provided for their installation. Replace camshaft chain should be carried out as follows:
- Remove all items that impede access to the drive chain of the camshaft;
- Remove maslorazbryzgivayuschie nozzle (although this would require additional work, but it will be easier to turn the engine);
- Remove the cylinder head cover;
- Remove the chain tensioner (Sect. 2.12.1);
- Crankcase cover with a piece of cloth chain;
- Grinder to grind off rivet heads finger chain link. The chain is not separate;
- A new camshaft drive chain connected to an old chain, pulling ground off from the old chain link;
- With a key with a replaceable face head and ratchet inserted into the bolt crankshaft pulley, slowly turn the crankshaft in the working direction of rotation;
- During a slow rotation of the crank shaft must be maintained under tension old timing chain on the free end, while its other end connected to the new chain will lead to final sprocket. Ensure that the chain does not come out of engagement with the drive sprocket of the camshaft and crankshaft sprocket;

Installation of the link-lock in the drive chain (this operation should be carried out from the side indicated by the arrow)
Fig. 98. Installation of the link-lock in the drive chain (this operation should be carried out from the side indicated by the arrow)

- As soon as the two ends of the new chain will be at the top of the drive sprocket of the camshaft, the old to the new circuit is disconnected, and the free opening roller is inserted removable new chain link-locking with the inside outwards, as shown in Fig. 98. On the fingers of the connecting chain link to install the new retaining rings. At both ends of the chain should be temporarily tie wire to the camshaft sprocket drive, so they are not flocking to it in the housing chain;

Location of a guide pin of the camshaft (above). Location timing marks corresponding to the position of the piston at the TDC of the first cylinder (bottom)

- Rotate the crankshaft until the first cylinder until the piston stops at the TDC position. Then, check (on crankshaft pulley or a torsional vibration dampers) to the position of the crankshaft pulley mark camshaft took the position shown in Fig. 33. If it does not, check the camshaft drive mechanism and the fuel pump, as described in the relevant sections;
- The remaining work is done in the reverse order of removal.

Note
It should be remembered that the chain drive can be connected as a conventional insert links. This outer plate chain should be well pressed against the rollers, and the protruding ends of the fingers level should be riveted. This work should be carried out in the workshop. The above description applies to units with detachable chain-locks.
