Replacing the elastic coupling and centering sleeves



Defects flexible couplings or centering sleeves may cause increased noise, loss of lubrication and damage the car.


The cross section of the elastic coupling of the drive shaft

1 - drive shaft

Install the dowel sleeve


PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the driveline.
  2. When reusing the flexible coupling put labels its position relative to the propeller shaft flange.
  3. After removing the screws, remove the flexible coupling.
  4. Install the driveline in a vise with the jaws of a soft metal and drill a hole in a perpendicular to the axis diameter of 10 mm centering sleeve at a distance of about 15 mm from the outer end.
  5. Insert the resulting hole puller (rod), remove the sleeve from the shaft driveline.
  6. Clean the bore of the shaft, set vertically on the new plug hole and fully press in it with the mandrel.
  7. Install flexible coupling flange driveline, providing a match previously applied tags. Put the screws (heads towards the intermediate support) and screw the new self-locking nuts, having tightened their moment 4.5 kgs.m.
  8. Install the vehicle driveline.

    Do not forget to lay on the refractory 6 g of grease in the recess centering sleeve.
