Maintenance Procedures Wheel

Wheels with steel rims

Pressed steel wheels should be cleaned regularly, during which they should be removed from any debris and mud deposits. Sticking foreign objects leads to a violation of balancing wheels and can cause vibration of the car while driving and uneven tread wear. Peeled paint should be restored as soon as possible in order to avoid corrosion of the disc.

Slight deformation of the rim of the disc can be corrected by straightening hammer. Wheel when it should be removed from the vehicle. In the case of severely damaged disc should be replaced. A good practice is to periodically removing wheels for a thorough examination of disks for corrosion, cracks and other damage.

Alloy wheels

Alloy wheels, as well as steel must be regularly cleaned of dirt and foreign objects adhered affecting wheel balance. Aluminum alloy disks also subject to corrosion, especially when in contact with salt water.

Alloy wheels, being made of a softer material than the pressed easier istsarapyvayutsya in contact with hard objects, but scratches and bullies do not have a significant impact on the availability of wheels for use. In case of severe damage of the disk to be replaced. Deformed and cracked restorative alloy wheels can not be repaired.

Maintaining the tires and wheels rotation

It is unacceptable exploitation of tire tread pattern depth of less than 1.5 mm. Sometimes tire factory equipped with wear indicators, which is at the exit of the tread surface is flush with the tire has to be replaced (see. Accompanying illustration).
1 - groove tread pattern (depth - not less than 1.5 mm)
2 - tread wear indicators

Tires should be replaced as the presence of obvious defects, both internal and external. Small punctures and leaks can be eliminated in the tire shop. If you have any doubt as to assess the state of the tires of your vehicle consult the experts in tire fitting.

The grooves of the tread and the bead tires should be regularly inspected for the presence of trapped therein foreign objects such as nails, small stones, etc. all such items must be removed from the tread immediately after their discovery. In the event of a puncture repair it must be delivered to the fitting center.
Gates pumping of tires must be fitted with protective caps (to prevent corrosion of the pin). In addition, they regularly (every time you check tire inflation pressure) cleaned of dirt and dust, and check for signs of air leakage.

Regularly check tires for signs of uneven wear in case of such, refer to the materials section dedicated to troubleshooting tires in the introduction to these Guidelines in order to clarify the causes and possible solutions. If uneven tire wear is possible to identify at an early stage, then the cause is eliminated promptly, tire life can be extended.

To increase the life of the tires should be regularly checked wheel balancing and alignment of the front wheels (suspension geometry) on a special stand.

It is useful to periodically rotate the wheels, which also allows for longer maintain the tires in working condition, although not one of the procedures required to implement in order to ensure traffic safety. It should also be remembered that the wheels equipped with radial tires can be interchanged with the rotation only from front to back without moving to the opposite side of the car (see. Accompanying illustration).
1 - rotation of wheels without the inclusion of a reserve
2 - rotation with the inclusion of a spare wheel

Maintaining the required tire pressure is perhaps the most important of the regular maintenance procedures wheels. The deviation from the norm of inflation pressure in any direction leads to accelerate tire wear and even to their rupture during movement due to overheating. If possible, check the tire inflation pressure on cold wheels (otherwise the result would be inflated due to the thermal expansion of the air).
As a rule, it prohibited complement the car tires of different sizes and with different tread pattern. Ideally, all the wheels, including the spare must be equipped with tires of the same size. It is strictly forbidden simultaneous installation of wheels fitted with radial tires and a conventional cord.
