Removing

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the oil pan, the chain (or chains) and a flywheel.
2. Remove the connecting rods with pistons.

A warning

If pistons and connecting rods are no repair work will not be performed, then remove the cylinder head and connecting rod and piston group is not necessary. Pistons should be a push towards the combustion chambers to push a sufficient distance from the crankshaft bearings.

3. Check the axial play of the crankshaft, and then follow the steps below.
Engine 2.0 L
4. Remove the bolts and remove the left (at the flywheel) cylinder holder rear oil seal. With the weakening of the guide pins, remove them and store together with the holder.
5. Remove the bolts main bearing caps, making one revolution per reception. After removing the bolts, remove them from the cylinder.
6. Remove the main bearing caps cast frame, drawing attention to its orientation.
7. The main bearing caps are to be numbered from 1 to 5, since the timing chain cover (numaratsii location indicated by the arrows). If the numbers are not available, then apply white paint marks that match the serial number of the cover and determine its orientation to ensure a proper installation of a cover during assembly.
8. Remove the cover and remove the lower main bearing shells. Glue the ribbon each pad to the corresponding lid to prevent loss or improper installation of inserts.
9. Carefully remove the crankshaft, and the displacement of the upper main bearing shells are not allowed.
10. Remove the cylinder from the upper root inserts. Glue the ribbon each pad to the corresponding lid to prevent loss or improper installation of inserts. Remove persistent half rings of the average crankshaft bearing (N3), and store with the average crankshaft bearing cap.

Checking the Status

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Check axial play
1. The axial clearance is checked before removing the crankshaft of the engine and can move freely in the main bearings (see. Subsection 3.2.2.11).
2. The axial clearance is checked with a dial gauge, which abuts the end of the crankshaft. Move the crankshaft to the failure of the way and set the dial indicator to zero. Move the crankshaft in the opposite direction and read the indicator. The result compare to the standard. If the play exceeds the norm, the need to replace persistent half rings.
3. In the absence of axial play of the indicator can be checked probe. Move the crankshaft to the refusal of the flywheel side, then measure the backlash by inserting probes into the gap between the cheek of the crankshaft about the 4th crank pin and thrust a semicircle near the 3rd radical bearing.
Checking the Status
4. Rinse the crankshaft kerosene or solvent and dry with compressed air (if available). Thoroughly clean with the brush oil passages within the crankshaft.
5. Verify that the crank pin traces of uneven wear, cracks, scuffing and pitting (holes).
6. Irregular wear of the crank pin is accompanied by a distinct metallic clatter the engine running (which is particularly well tapped by pressing a pedal throttle when driving at low speed) and a noticeable drop in oil pressure.
7. Worn main bearings accompanied by a strong vibration motor and a hollow rumbling sound that increases with increasing engine speed, as well as a notable drop in oil pressure.
8. Check the roughness of the necks of the crankshaft, having a finger on them, not much pressing. Any roughness (which manifests itself simultaneously with obvious signs of wear of main and connecting rod bearings) indicates the need for regrinding necks crankshaft (if possible) or replace it.
9. Check the crankshaft run-out in the central part with a dial gauge, setting the crankshaft in the driver bearing. If the runout exceeds the norm, the crankshaft must be replaced.
10. If the crankshaft journals pereshlifovyvalis, remove the burrs around the lubrication holes (these holes are usually slightly counterbore, so burrs are found only in the case of negligent performance of grinding work). Burrs are removed fine needle files or scraper, after thoroughly clean the hole.
11. Measure by a micrometer diameter radical (left) and connecting rod (pictured right) necks and compare the results with the regulations of the section (see. Subsection 3.2.1.1). Determine ovality necks, which measure the diameter at several points around the circumference of the neck. Check the taper, measured the diameter opposite cheeks around necks. Compare the results with the regulations.
12. Check the condition of the necks of the crankshaft sealing glands. If these journals there is a deep groove formed in the place of working edges of the gland, consult a specialist, as required, or repair or replace the crankshaft.
13. The manufacturer supplies spare parts repairs main and connecting rod bearings. For the main bearing shells there is only one repair size (0.25 mm) and three sizes for repair rod bearing (0.08, 0.12 and 0.25 mm). To purchase repairs main and connecting rod bushings please contact Car Dealer Nissan.

14. If repairs are commercially available liners and wear of the necks of the crankshaft exceeds the standard so that further repair is not possible, it is advisable to purchase a restored crankshaft bearings and install repair. About what actions to take further consult in car-care center service or a specialist.
