1. Before installation of new piston rings it is necessary to check the gap in their joints. Arrange pistons assembled with rods and new piston rings in such a manner that the set of rings corresponded to the cylinder, which will be measured by the gap in the joint and that checks rings will be installed. |
2. Insert the first cylinder top ring of the piston head and push inwardly so that the ring inside cylinder became perpendicular to its axis. Push the ring to a depth at which the edge of the piston skirt becomes equal to the split plane of the cylinder block, then remove the piston. |
| 3. Measure the clearance probe and the result compare to the standard specified in section 3.2.1.1. |
4. If the gap is too small (which is unlikely if you set the ring released Nissan), it should be extended. Otherwise, due to the closing of the rings with the engine there will be serious damage. It is best should pick up new rings with the regulatory gap in the joint. At worst, you can extend the gap neatly sawed ends of the ring gap with a thin needle files. To do this, hold down the needle file in a vice with soft sponges, get a ring so that the ends of the interface were on both sides of the Needle, and slowly moving the ring, remove excess material. Keep in mind that the ring is very delicate and can easily break. |
5. It is unlikely that the gap in the new rings will be too large. If the clearance is above the norm, make sure that the ring corresponds to the given motor and the cylinder size group. |
6. Repeat the procedure for each ring of the first cylinder and other cylinders for rings. The rings and plugs corresponding to one and the same cylinder store together. |
7. After selection of rings, measurement and adjustment of the gap of the ring can be mounted on pistons (see. Fig. Scheme installation of rings on the piston). |
A warning Always follow the instructions of the manufacturer of the Rings, as different manufacturers recommend different procedures for installation of rings on the piston. Do not confuse the upper and lower compression rings which have different cross-sections.
|
| 8. The first set oil ring (the lowest on the piston). This ring is composed of three parts. Set in a groove expander. |
| 9. Next, between the expander and platforms piston groove set in order the upper and lower wheels oil ring. |
10. Next, set a lower compression ring. |
A warning The upper and lower compression rings differ in cross-section.
|
11. Before installing correctly orient the ring (orientation marks on the piston ring must be facing up) and place the ring in the middle groove on the piston, and the prohibited too hard to push the ring .. |
| 12. Similarly, set the upper compression ring, after it properly oriented. If the ring has a symmetrical cross section, then place it so that the identification label (arrow) facing up. |
13. After installing the rings on the piston set up the joints as shown in Fig. Arrangement of joints of piston rings. |
14. Repeat this procedure, set the ring to the rest of the pistons. |
