System control release of fuel vapor from fuel system

Models with the carburettor engine

Identification of hose connections charcoal filter

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If you think that the system is faulty, disconnect the hose from the carbon filter and thermal vacuum valve and purge them.
2. To verify the thermal vacuum valve which is installed on the right side of the intake manifold when the engine is cold disconnect both hoses from the valve. Connect the hose to one of the ports of the valve and Blow therein. The valve should be closed and should not leak air. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. Again Blow into the hose; the valve must be opened and air must pass freely. If the valve does not work as described above, replace it.
3. The carbon filter is located in the right rear corner of the engine compartment. The carbon filter and valve can be checked as follows.
4. Walk along the hose "A" by the carbon filter and remove it from the T-connection. Start the engine and try to draw in air from the hose; the valve should not pass air, and the speed of the motor should increase slightly. Connect the hose back to the T-joints.
5. Walk along the hose "C" by the carbon filter and remove it from the carburetor float chamber. Start the engine and Blow into the hose; the valve should not pass air. Connect the hose back to the carburetor.
6. Walk along the hose "B" by the carbon filter and remove it from the intake manifold. When the engine is off, Blow into the hose and pull in air from the hose; valve should not allow air in any direction. Connect the hose back to the intake manifold.
7. If during the inspections described in the was air leakage through some of the hoses, the carbon filter and the valve must be replaced.

MODELS "PHASE I" (Models Year 1993, to June) with an engine capacity of 2.0 L and multipoint injection system FUEL

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If you think that the system is faulty, disconnect the hose from the carbon filter, mounted in the right rear corner of the engine compartment, and blow them.
2. The carbon filter and valve can be checked as follows. Disconnect the hose from the carbon filter and Blow into the tube "A"; the valve should not pass air. Blow each nozzle "B" turn. Both channels must be open and free flowing air. If the test does not yield the expected results, the carbon filter and valve must be replaced.

ALL OTHER MODELS fuel injection

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. If you think that the system is faulty, disconnect the hose from the carbon filter and solenoid valve, and purge them. On models with engine capacity of 1.6 liters, the charcoal filter is located in the left rear corner of the engine compartment, and the solenoid valve located on the rear side of the intake manifold. On models with the engine capacity of 2.0 liters, the charcoal filter is located on the left side of the engine compartment and solenoid valve is located on the left or bottom side of the intake manifold.
2. The solenoid valve can be checked by using the reduced wiring diagram.
If necessary, remove the valve, the instructions given in section 6.4.2.3.3, to improve access.
3. Blow into the tube "A" and make sure it does not pass through the air. Blow into the tube "B" and check that the air passes through the tube and out of the socket "C".
4. A fuse connect power supply 12 volts to the solenoid valve as illustrated. After the supply voltage, Blow into the tube "A" and check that the air passes through the valve and out of the pipe "B". Blow into the tube "B" and check that the air passes through the valve and out of the socket "C".
5. If the solenoid valve does not work as expected, then it is defective and must be replaced.
6. The charcoal filter and the valve can be checked as described
