Engine cooling system

The engine cooling system is filled at the factory long-acting coolant that does not need replacing.

The coolant consists of 60% water and 40% from the low temperature concentrate G12 A8D (low temperature compound based on ethylene glycol with corrosion inhibitors). This mixture not only provides the capacity for work of the engine cooling system to a temperature of -25 ? C, but also protects parts from corrosion, particularly parts made of light alloys. Furthermore, this mixture prevents the formation of scale and significantly increases the boiling point of the coolant.

Therefore, the content of low-temperature and concentrate in the warmer months and in warmer climates should not be reduced by the use of water for topping up. The proportion of low temperature of the concentrate should be at least 40%.

If the harsh climate, a higher coolant frost, you can share concentrate G12 A8D increase, but only up to 60% (the freezing temperature of the coolant in this case will be about -40 ? C), since a larger proportion of the low-temperature freezing ra concentrate tempera coolant starts to increase, and in addition, the thermal conductivity and specific heat parameters coolant deteriorate.

As the low temperature of the concentrate should be used only our structure G12 A8D or concentrate with the specification TL-VW 774 D (pay attention to the label on the container).

Other concentrates can be primarily largely aggressive towards anticorrosive coatings.

Caused by the fault of the hub corrosion of metal parts can lead to leakage of the coolant, which in turn - to serious engine damage.

As the low temperature of the concentrate should be used only our structure G12 A8D.

A warning

When topping up the coolant, note, please, that in no case should not be confused with other structure G12 concentrates low-temperature (as well as the composition of the G11).
You can define structure G12 on red color in the coolant expansion tank. If the coolant in the expansion tank brown mean structure G12 is mixed with another low temperature concentrate! In this case, be sure to replace the coolant!
Otherwise you may cause serious disturbances in the engine!

Check of level and density of a cooling liquid
A warning

Never open the hood to see where that goes from the engine compartment or steam flows coolant - danger of burns! Wait until until no more steam escapes or leaking coolant.

Expansion tank engine cooling system is located in the engine compartment.

The coolant level can be correctly verified only when the engine is off.
The coolant level when the engine is cold must be between the min and max surge tank; when the engine level may also be slightly higher than the mark max.

To verify the density must use a hydrometer to the coolant.

Loss of Coolant

A significant reduction in the level of coolant gives the right to assume first seal tightness. In this case, you should immediately check the engine cooling system in the service enterprise a Volkswagen. It is not enough to limit ourselves refilling coolant.

In the cooling system with intact seals reducing coolant can occur only when the liquid boils in the motor overheats and is discharged outside.

Topping up the coolant

First, turn off the engine and let it cool. Then cover expansion tank cap with a cloth and carefully unscrew it counterclockwise.

If under the circumstances you have low temperature concentrate G12 A8D, do not add any other in the concentrate. In this case can be topped up only water at the first opportunity, be sure to restore the desired composition of the coolant, the low-temperature addition of the recommended concentrate.

When a large loss of coolant refilling it should be done only when the engine is cold, to avoid engine failure.

A warning

Do not fill the coolant above the mark max: excess fluid will flow as a result of its expansion of the cooling system through the pressure relief valve located in the plug.

Firmly wrap the bottle.
