Terms battery care

If you want to save battery performance over the longest possible period of time, please observe the following rules:

- With the engine off, turn off all electrical appliances in the car;
- Disconnection of the battery from a car network begin with a negative wire;
- Every 15-20 days (over 2500 kilometers) of dirt, wipe the battery to prevent it from self-discharge. With the same purpose should be to eliminate drips electrolyte and isolated from the mounting frame;
- The battery must be securely attached to the vehicle. Make sure that the wires to the terminals are firmly fixed on the findings of the battery, otherwise the risk of explosion;
the battery can operate continuously in the starter mode is not more than 15 seconds; a break between cycles should `be not less than 60 seconds;
- Periodically check the voltmeter the pressure developed by the relay-regulator. Indications must be removed directly at the terminals accumulative pa during operation, the engine is warm. The voltage should be within the range of 13.8 to 14.5 volts;
- It is desirable to maintain the battery at every 3 000 km check the level and specific gravity. The electrolyte level checked by a special mark on the transparent housings or with a special glass tube in opaque cases. The electrolyte should be 10-15 mm close the upper edge of the plate. The density of the electrolyte is checked by using a hydrometer. If the density was lower than 1.23 g / cm 3 in the winter and 1.19 g / cm3 summer needs recharging;
- Even if the generator and the voltage regulator are correct, and the electrolyte level is normal, charging with the charger requires 1 once a month in winter and every 6 months in other seasons;
- Flooded electrolyte battery can only be stored fully charged, the density of the electrolyte must be checked once a month;
- Charge the battery produces a current making exactly 0,1 from nominal capacity. For example, the battery capacity of 50 A / h is necessary to charge a current of 5 A, when screwed out the filler plug;
- It is not necessary to fill in the battery electrolyte with a specific gravity of 1.28 g / cm 3. Trying to thereby increase the starting current, you in a short period of time will damage the battery. For the same reason, to bring the electrolyte level back to normal only with distilled water;
- In the opaque served battery electrolyte level can be measured by means of a hollow glass tube, covering one end of the finger. To take a "sample" the height of the liquid column inside the tube will correspond to height of excess electrolyte level above the upper edge of the plate;
- It is necessary to remove electrolyte drips or neutralize the possible impact of the electrolyte in the surrounding objects; it can be done by using a 10 percent solution of ammonia or baking soda.

Do not operate a discharged battery, especially in winter.

The battery is discharged too high percentage of water in the electrolyte. The electrolyte may freeze and damage the battery casing. Do not attempt to charge a frozen battery current or start a car from an outside source, allow the battery to thaw, and then try to recover it by charging current of low power, and he can still serve.

The crack in the bank served accumulator - not always the reason for his replacement. Pour the electrolyte, dry and clean gasoline crack, and then treat it with a file. Sawdust, forming shiesya at cutting cracks, mixed with epoxy glue or putty. The resulting composition carefully seal the crack. After this procedure, the electrolyte pour no sooner than 24 hours.
