Replacing gas-discharge lamp



NOTE
The left and right discharge lamps can be checked with the diagnosis of the actuator control unit onboard network.
The illustration shows replacement of the discharge lamp on the right headlight.
Replace the left and right discharge lamp is performed similarly.

Withdrawal
Turn the ignition and all electrical consumers and translate the key to position 0 (pre-emphasis).
Remove the headlamp.

Press the wire clamp 1 in the direction of the arrow in the direction (Fig. 7.73).

1 Remove the cover from the power module 2 lights in the direction of the arrow with lights, as it allows the length of the wires (Fig. 7.74).

NOTE
Power Module 2 lights unscrewed from the cover 1 is not required.

Unlock plug connections and remove the plugs (Fig. 7.75).

ATTENTION
The pressure inside the discharge lamp is 7 (cold) to 100 bar (heated). The temperature around the heated discharge lamp reaches 700 ?� C.
Discharge lamp may explode, so there is a risk of burns.
When removing and installing the lamp, always wear protective goggles and gloves.

Disconnect plug 1 from the discharge tube 2 (Fig. 7.76).
Unlock the wire guide 1 and tilt it to the side.

Carefully remove the discharge lamp 2 of the attachment (Fig. 7.77).

Setting
Install in reverse order, with the following should be considered.

NOTE
When you install a discharge lamp, do not touch its glass bulb. Fingers are left on the glass bulb greasy fingerprints that evaporate after the lights and light the lamp may become darker.
In no case do not expose the glass bulb of the discharge lamp to mechanical stress. The glass bulb is very sensitive and, moreover, is under high pressure.
Do not look directly into a focused beam of light as the ultraviolet radiation of the discharge lamp is approximately 2.5 times the radiation of a conventional halogen light.

When installing the holder with the power module lights pay attention to correct seating of the seal. Water entering lights leads to its destruction.
If the lamp has been dismantled with auto-leveling, after the installation, you must perform the basic setting of headlights.
Insert the discharge lamp, so that the locking tabs have got to grooves on the reflector.
Check the operation of lights, including all of its functions.
Check the setting range, adjust if necessary.
