eleven The new generation of the Polo since 1995 Release

Car Volkswagen Polo third generation was first presented in 1994 at the Motor Show in Frankfurt (Germany). Installed in vehicles upgraded engines. The only exception is the engine capacity of 1.6 liters, its design is based on previously issued motors (diameter of the cylinders remained unchanged, the working volume is increased). Models Polo, made before the end of 1995 were equipped with engine capacity of 1.0; 1.3 or 1.6 liters. All vehicles of the new generation regardless of the volume were made before the end of 1995 with the use of fuel injection Mono-Motronic through one central nozzle. Since 1996, the possibility of the Polo were further expanded through the use of two new four-cylinder engines with multipoint injection. The new engines have lower fuel consumption, higher power and improved performance compared to other engines equipped with fuel injection through a nozzle. Central injection was saved only for the engine capacity of 1.0 liters.
Engine displacement of 1.4 liters, 60 hp replaced the 1.3-liter engine, 55 hp
The new engine capacity of 1.6 liters, will retain the same volume and power, more torque is different, and therefore the best dynamics. Through the use of the distributed injection engine torque 1.4 liter at a speed of 2800-3200 min-1 increased from 100 to 116 Nm. The engine capacity of 1.6 liters torque increased from 128 to 135 Nm at 2800- 3400 min-1.
And increased the maximum speed when using the engine capacity of 1.4 liters: car develops 160 km / h (above 155 km / h). Acceleration from zero to 100 km / h was reduced from 16.3 to 14.9 seconds. The maximum speed of models with engine capacity of 1.6 liters has not changed and is 172 km / h (according to the manufacturer), but significantly improved acceleration and economy.
When the distributed injection in contrast to the injection through a central nozzle, fuel is injected immediately before the intake valves of each cylinder, thereby achieving a better distribution of the fuel mixture in combination with a relatively low injection pressure values. Together with the multiple injection engines used in the new air intake system of the other - through the suction pipe mixer, made of fiberglass.
Made modify the Polo with an engine capacity of 1.0 liters and 1.4 with a folding roof with electric drive.
A novelty was the equipment in 1996, by special order, air-conditioned cars with engines of 1.4 liters. Such an opportunity came by increasing the power of the new engine capacity of 1.4 liters. By the end of 1995 they only installed on models with engines of 1.6 liters.
All vehicles are equipped with serial production of the catalytic converter.
On the Polo cars set inline transverse-mounted engine in the front of the car. Cylinders all engines are cast integrally with the block, so their substitution for this reason is not possible. The lubrication system consists of an oil pump, oil filter, pressure gauge, relief and pressure reducing valve. The overflow valve is opened in cases where due to overdue oil change or other reasons, are clogging the oil filter. If too high, the oil pressure relief valve opens to provide lubrication details. Significant changes undergone design of the oil pump, which now operates a chain instead of a gear driven by the crankshaft, as in the previous series engines Polo issues.
In the cylinder head from an aluminum alloy mounted camshaft. The valves control the hydraulic tappets, valve clearances therefore require no adjustment. A camshaft driven from the crankshaft by a gear belt, which in turn results in the water pump.
Front and rear suspension independent. The car body supporting structure.
Front suspension consists of a shock-absorbing struts with coil springs and triangular wishbones, anti-roll bar (except for the base model).
Suspension rear wheel consists of the beams connecting the trailing arms and coil springs. Hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers are used in suspension front and rear wheels.
Dual-circuit brake system with an amplifier; wheel disc brakes front and rear wheels - drum. Anti-lock brakes (ABS) installed on the GL and GLX. It prevents the wheels from locking during braking and stores the handling and stability of the vehicle.
The steering mechanism is provided with a rack. Since 1996, all mass-produced models, except models of engine capacity of 1.0 and 1.4 liters, equipped with assisted steering. By the end of 1995 assisted steering is only installed on models with engines of 1.6 liters. Among the constructive solutions that enhance the safety, solid, absorbing the impact energy of the longitudinal beams and integrated into the footwell crossmember. It serves to protect the driver and front passenger. Sturdy door pillars act as a safety arch.
Currently, increasingly used side-impact protection. The body of the Polo and the doors are integrated stiffeners, improved compared to its predecessors strength values at 30% depth of deformation of 50%. Located under the dashboard crossbeam dampens side impact.
At the rear of the vehicle located in front of the plastic fuel tank and rear axle insertion of a metal plate in the rear seat backrest. Last protects passengers from being in the trunk in loose condition items in a frontal collision.
All models are equipped with serial mechanical five-speed transmission with synchronized transmissions in the first half of 1996 on cars with engines of 1.4 and 1.6 liter four-installed automatic transmission.
