Checking the valve guides

During repair work on the engine with leaking valves enough to handle or replace the valve. Be sure to need to check the wear of the guide rods valves. Especially important test for engines with high mileage. If the wear is great, it is necessary to replace or guide rods (factory work) or cylinder head.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the combustion cleaning foam.
2. Install a new valve. The lower part of the valve stem must be against the guide.

A warning

Because of the difference in size of rods and plates diameters inserted only intake valve guide intake valve and an exhaust valve of the exhaust valve guide.

3. Measure the clearance. To do this at VW used a special tool VW387. The boundary of the intake valve wear: 1.0 mm; exhaust valve: 1.3 mm.
4. If the gap is too large guide must be replaced at the factory.
