Spark plug

The spark plug includes an insulator body, a central electrode and an electrode mass. Electrode weight firmly secured in the detention center. The insulator is fixedly connected with the housing. Between the central electrode and the weight slips spark that ignites the air-fuel mixture.

From spark plugs depend on the ease of start-up characteristic of idling, acceleration and top speed. On this basis it can not be without reason to deviate from the type of spark prescribed by the manufacturer, which is determined by heat range. Heat rating indicates the degree of the thermal load of the engine spark under certain conditions.

Candles for the motor are chosen so that they are in various operating conditions, reach a temperature of self-purification. The lower heat rating of the spark plug, the higher its resistance to surface ignition and the less resistance to contamination. The higher the number of candles glow, the less resistance surface ignition and the higher its resistance to contamination.

Heat range spark contained in the code of the spark plug. The code stands as shown below.

1. W - M14 x 1.25 thread with a flat landing, SW21;
F - thread M14h1,25 flat landing, SW16;
M - 18 x 1.5 thread with a flat landing, SW25;
H - thread M14 x 1.25 Cone planting, SW16;
D - M18 x 1.25 thread with tapered fit, SW 21;
SW - key size.

2. R - with interference suppression resistor. The ignition system is not broken.

3. The heat range. Heat rating scale has 06 designations ("cold") to 13 ("hot"). The number 7 corresponds to the old heat rating of 175 (old designation), 6-200, 5-225, etc.

4. A - thread length of 12.7 mm, the normal path of the spark discharge;
B - thread length 12.7 mm extended spark discharge path;
C - thread length of 19 mm, the normal path of the spark discharge;
D - thread length of 19 mm, the trajectory elongated spark discharge;
DT - thread length 19mm, extended trajectory of the spark discharge, the mass of the electrode 3;
L - length of thread 19 mm, highly elongated path of the spark discharge.

5. The electrode material of the central electrode: Ni-Cr alloy;
C - the central electrode from the compound Ni - Cu;
S - silver center electrode;
P - platinum center electrode;
About - standard spark plug with a reinforced central electrode.

6. R = 1 ohm resistance to burnout, X - the distance between the electrodes is 1.1 mm.

Due Disseminated copper (Cu) in the center electrode, and further, when using a silver electrode increases thermal conductivity, and consequently the thermal load. The advantage of the spark plug with platinum center electrode is a high ability to produce sparks, low wear and a wide range of incandescent.
