Replacing cylinder head gasket

If you find a leak of engine oil or coolant in the joints of the cylinder head with the cylinder block, remove the head and replace the gasket. Leakage may also arise due to warping due to overheating of the head unit.
You will need: the same tools as for the removal of the timing belt (see. "Replacing and adjusting the tension of the timing belt and its replacement by a tension roller"), camshaft pulley (see. "Replacement of the gland camshaft") back timing cover (see. "Removing and installing oil pump"), the cylinder head cover (see. "Replacing the cover gasket cylinder head"), as well as face head "13" keys "12", "on the 14 "," 19 ", a torque wrench.
1. Reduce the pressure in the fuel system if doing the job immediately after the trip (see. "Reducing the pressure in the fuel system").
2. Disconnect a wire from the plug "minus" of the storage battery.
3. Drain the coolant (see. "Replacing the coolant").
4. Loosen the hose clip supply coolant to the radiator heater, squeezing his ears bent, slide the clamp on a hose ...
5. ... and remove the hose from the pipe inlet pipe.
6. Loosen the alternator drive belt and the power steering pump and remove the belt from the alternator pulley (see. "Replacing the alternator drive belt and the power steering pump").
7. Remove the bolt tensioning straps generator and carry the generator from the engine by turning it to the bracket.
8. Establish the piston of 1st cylinder TDC compression stroke (see. "Installation of the piston of the first cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke").
9. Disconnect the harness from the sensor 1, coolant temperature gauge and disconnect the holder 2 engine wiring harness from the bracket.
10. Grab a side cutter (or cut with a knife) the wire clamp to the hose, pull the engine wiring harness to the side so that it does not interfere with work ...

NOTE
Clamp disposable. When assembling do not forget to replace it with a new clamp to conductor be fixed.

11. ... and separate shoe sensor harness oxygen concentration.
13. Remove the timing belt (see. "Replacing and adjusting the tension of the timing belt and its replacement by a tension roller").
14. Remove the bolt of the camshaft pulley, keeping a pulley from turning, as shown in the photo inserted in the holes of the pulley handles pliers and a large screwdriver ...
15. ... and then remove the pulley.
16. Loosen the radiator hose clamp on the cover of the thermostat ...
17. ... and remove it from the nozzle cover.
18. Remove the back cover of the timing (see. "Removing and installing oil pump").
19. Disconnect the engine wiring harness from the throttle position sensor ...
20. ... the idle speed regulation ...
21. ... and nozzles.
22. Remove the groove sector throttle assembly tip the throttle cable ...
23. ... and from the slot bracket - rubber damper wire rope and swing to the side.
24. Disconnect hoses from the crankcase ventilation system cylinder head cover, the camshaft, air supply hose and an inlet pipe (see. "Cleaning the crankcase ventilation system").
25. Remove the air supply hose by disconnecting the tube throttle assembly (see. "Removing and installing throttle assembly").
26. Disconnect the harness connector from the coolant temperature sensor engine management system ...
27. ... and solenoid valve EGR.
28. Disconnect from the fuel pressure regulator fitting drain hose ...
29. ... and from the fuel filter - discharge hose by squeezing the latches locking elements hose nozzle.

NOTE
The need to disconnect the hose from the fuel filter, instead of the ramp due to the fact that in order to detach it from the rail requires a special tool (see. "Removing and installing the fuel rail"), which it is appropriate to use when replacing a hose.

30. Disconnect from the throttle assembly fittings and hoses supplying coolant drain by loosening the clamps attaching them (see. "Removing and installing throttle assembly").
31. Disconnect the hose nozzle of the throttle assembly canister purge ...
32. ... and from the inlet pipe - hose to the absolute pressure sensor.
33. Loosen the hose clamp on the brake servo, squeezing it with pliers bent tabs, slide the clamp on a hose ...
34. ... and disconnect the hose from the intake pipe.
35. Disconnect the wiring harness from the ignition coil.
36. Remove the spark plug caps from the high-voltage wires and remove the wires, removing them from the sockets of the ignition coil.
37. Loosen the screws on the bottom of the support bracket of the inlet tube ...

The sequence of the bolts fastening the cylinder head
Fig. 5.4. The sequence of the bolts fastening the cylinder head

38. ... remove the two screws on the upper support bracket ...
39. ... and bring out from under the bracket holder coolant hoses.
40. Disconnect a reception pipe from a final collector (see. "Replacing the front exhaust pipe").
41. Remove the ten bolts securing the cylinder head to the block in the reverse order to that shown in Fig. 5.4, in three steps: Remove the screws on the half-turn, turn the bolts another half turn, finally, remove the bolts.

A WARNING
Bolts cylinder head is possible to turn on only the engine is cold.

42. Remove the bolts and remove the camshaft ...
... 43. The cylinder head assembly from the inlet pipe and the exhaust manifold ...

HELPFUL ADVICE
To remove the cylinder head is more convenient with the assistant, as it is quite heavy.

44. ... and its lining.
45. Clean the gasket surface of the cylinder head and cylinder block (surfaces must be clean and dry) ...
46. ... and remove the oil from the threaded holes in the block under the head bolts.

A WARNING
Failure to remove the oil from the screw holes for the bolts fastening the cylinder head, the tightening bolt in the cylinder block may crack as the oil is incompressible.

47. Install the cylinder block a new gasket, centering it on the two guide bushings.
48. Install the cylinder head in sequence, return to removal, taking into account the following:
- Always replace the head gasket of a new, re-use it is not allowed;
- Be sure to replace with new head bolts as they deform when tightening and re-use are not suitable.
Tighten the bolts on the engine is cold in the sequence shown in Fig. 5.4 in five phases: 1st - tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (2.5 kgf-m); 2nd - tighten bolts at an angle of 60 ?; 3rd - further tighten the bolts on a corner 60 ?; 4th - additionally tighten bolts at an angle of 60 ?; 5th - definitively tighten bolts on a corner 10 ?;

NOTE
After the first start of the assembled engine, warm it up to operating temperature and full cooling after stopping further tighten the bolts of the cylinder head at an angle of 30-50 ?.

- Replace the new gasket reception pipe exhaust system, deformable tightening nuts.
49. Install all the parts and components in the reverse order of removal.
51. Adjust the belt tension of the generator and the power steering pump (see. "Check and adjust belt drive alternator and power steering pump"), as well as the air conditioning compressor (see. "Check and adjust belt drive air conditioner compressor").
52. Adjust the accelerator cable (see. "Adjustment and replacement of the throttle cable").
