Check and replacement of brake hoses and lines

Checking the Status

Every six months, jacking the car and establish it on props, check the rubber brake hoses connecting the steel assembly line with front and rear brakes for cracks, shabby outer covers, signs of leaks, blisters and other damage. Hoses are important and vulnerable components of the brake system and should be inspected for its entire length. Such audit will use a flashlight and a mirror. In the event of any of the above defects of the hose to be replaced immediately.

Replacement

Front brake hose

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the brake line hose connection, try not to bend at the same time or at the bracket line. If possible, use the union nuts for the give compression fittings with a special key.
  1. To remove the front brake hose from its fitting give a brake line - use a special key to the give the flare nuts of metal lines; otboltite then hose from the frame, using for this purpose the type of head or TORX screwdriver.
  1. With head screwdriver type TORX or otboltite hose from the frame.
  2. Give a hollow bolt choke the mount hose to the caliper brake (see. and remove the hose from the caliper. Discard the sealing washers.
  3. When installing in the first place, connect the hose to the caliper, replace the sealing washers on both sides of the union. Tighten the front bolt couplings with demanded effort.
  4. Do not twist the hose, connect it to the brake line fitting, but do not tighten until the nut couplings.
  5. Install hose bolt to the frame and tighten it.
  6. Tighten the nipple connection hose line.
  7. After the installation of a brake hose it should not be a twisted. Make sure that the hose never touch any of the moving components of the suspension - to ask the assistant to this several times to turn the steering wheel from lock to lock. If necessary, make adjustments to the installation of the hose. Bleed the brake system (Section Bleeding brake system).

Rear brake hoses

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. With the help of two keys disconnect the hose from the bracket on the frame - be careful not to deform the bracket or steel line.
  2. Using pliers, remove the U-shaped clip and disconnect the receiving half choke connector from the bracket.
  1. To disconnect the brake hose from the metal lines equipped distribute two threaded couplings (to avoid turning one of them loosening another, use a second wrench), then use pliers or side cutters (diagonal cutters), remove the U-shaped clamp.
  1. Disconnect the two hydraulic lines from the connecting block, then otboltite and remove the hose.
  2. Priboltite connecting block to the axle housing, then connect the line firmly tightened their couplings. Do not twist the hose, secure the receiving half of its couplings to the frame bracket.
  3. Set U-shaped clip receiving the hose end fixing bracket.
  4. With the help of a pair of steel wrenches, connect the line to the receiver halves of the compression fittings. Again, be careful not to bend the bracket or steel line.
  5. Make sure that the installation process has been weakened hose bracket frame. If necessary, tighten the fasteners.
  6. Fill the reservoir of the master cylinder fluid and bleed the system (Section Bleeding brake system).

Metal brake lines

When replacing the brake lines, pay special attention to the design and technology of interchangeable components. In no case do not set the brake circuits copper tubes. Steel tubes suitable only acquired in dealer branch or corporate auto parts store.

Preferably purchase brake lines with flared ends and is already equipped with couplings. Thus lines, if they buy a particular model of car in dealer branch or ordered at the company store, usually already given a corresponding form.

When installing a new line take care of reliability of fastening it to the bracket and the fact that between her and moving or strongly heated suspension components and exhaust system had sufficient clearance.

After installation, check the fluid level in the brake master cylinder reservoir, if necessary, make topping. Bleed the brake system (Section Bleeding brake system) and, before attempting to operate the vehicle, carefully check the serviceability of functioning of brakes.
