general information

This chapter describes procedures for repair of in-line 6-cylinder engine capacity of 4.0 liters, the implementation of which is possible without removing the latter from the vehicle. All information concerning the procedures for removing and installing the engine, as well as the overhaul of the block and the cylinder head can be found in Chapter Procedures and general overhaul of the engine.

Description of the proposed lower repair procedures drawn up on the assumption that the motor is mounted on the vehicle. If the motor is removed and transferred to the assembly stand, many of the recommended steps below will not apply.

The specifications given in the beginning of this section apply only to the procedures described herein. Specification requirements for the implementation of procedures of repair and restoration of the block and cylinder head are set out at the beginning of Chapter Procedures and general overhaul of the engine.
