Removal and installation of a gear belt and pulleys

Toothed belt Engine FE DOHC

1 - a pulley damper;
2 - upper toothed belt guard;
3 - lower guard gear belt;
4 - directing a gear belt;
5 - Timing belt tensioner and spring;
6 - the timing belt idler pulley;
7 - a gear belt;
8 - camshaft pulleys;
9 - a pulley of a gear belt.

Toothed belt T8 DOHC engine

1 - the water pump pulley;
2 - the crankshaft pulley;
3 - guide plate toothed belt;
4 - upper toothed belt guard;
5 - lower guard gear belt;
6 - a gear belt;
7 - Timing belt tensioner and spring;
8 - idler pulley;
9 - camshaft pulleys;
10 - a pulley of a gear belt.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The special tool, lock the flywheel from turning, loosen the bolt and the pulley damper.
2. On the engine T8 DOHC unscrew three screws and remove water pump pulley.
3. Remove the screws and remove the upper toothed belt guard.
4. Remove the screws and remove the bottom protective casing of a gear belt.
5. Remove the toothed belt guide.
6. Loosen the bolt tensioning device and remove the spring tensioner.
7. Loosen the retaining bolt tensioning device and remove the spring tensioner.

A warning

Note the direction of rotation of the toothed belt to be reinstalled in its original position.

Keep the belt of oil or grease.

8. Remove the timing belt.
9. Remove the bolt and camshaft pulley, pre-screwdriver fixing a camshaft from turning.

10. Remove the toothed belt pulley with the crankshaft.

Check

CHECK Timing Belts

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Replace the timing belt, if it is contaminated with oil or lubricant.
2. Check the toothed belt for damage, wear, separation, cracks in the teeth and at the base of teeth, and the defects at the ends and back of the belt. In the presence of defects, replace the timing belt.

A warning

Strongly do not bend a gear belt or change its direction of rotation.

Do not allow oil and lubricant to come into contact with toothed belt, as it will lead to its destruction.

Toothed belt tensioning mechanism and the guide roller

Check roller tensioner and idler roller for smooth rotation and lack of noise during rotation. If necessary, replace the tensioner roller or guide roller.

A warning

Do not clean the roller mechanism of a tension or guide roller toothed belt with cleaning fluids. Ointment is allowed to clean the rollers with a soft cloth. Do not scratch the surface of the work rolls, as it will lead to premature wear of the toothed belt.

SPRING tension mechanism

Measure length of a spring mechanism of a tension in a free state. If the length of the spring is different from the nominal value, replace it.

The length of the spring in a free state: 55.6 mm

Crankshaft and camshafts

Check the crankshaft pulley and the camshaft for wear, deformation or other defects of the teeth and, if necessary, replace them.

A warning

Do not clean the pulleys using cleaning fluids.

If necessary, use a clean, soft cleaning cloth.

Upper and lower cases toothed belts

Check the upper and lower casings of a gear belt for cracks and, if necessary, replace them.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Install the camshaft pulleys, thus the label I on a pulley of a camshaft of inlet valves and the label E on the pulley exhaust camshaft must be aligned with the mounting pins.
2. Secure the camshaft pulleys bolts, with wrench flats for holding the camshafts from turning.

Torque:
FE DOHC: 47-65 N ??? m
T8 DOHC: 49-60,8 N ??? m

3. Align the timing marks on the camshaft pulleys with marks on the plate gaskets.

A warning

When installing the camshaft pulley to the intake valves, align the label "I". When installing the camshaft pulley to align the exhaust valves label "E".

4. Change the direction of the special tool that blocks the flywheel from turning.
5. Install the key on the crankshaft.
6. Establish a pulley of a gear belt on the crankshaft.

Torque: 157-167 N ??? m

7. Remove the special tool that blocks the flywheel from turning.
8. Align the marks on the pulley of the toothed belt with a label on the pump bracket.
9. Install the timing belt idler pulley.

Torque: 37-52 N ??? m

10. Install the timing belt tensioner and spring tensioner.
11. Fix the tensioning device in a position in which the spring is fully stretched.
12. Install the timing belt so that he was pulled from the tension between the two devices, and the camshaft pulleys.

A warning

When the toothed belt is reused, it must be installed so that it rotates in the original direction. Check that the belt was no oil, grease or dirt.

13. Loosen the bolt tensioner.
14. Rotate the crankshaft two turns in the direction of rotation.
15. Check the combination of adjusting labels. If the labels are aligned properly, remove the timing belt tensioner and re-install it.
16. Rotate the crankshaft until the setting mark "S" on the right side of the crankshaft pulley with the timing mark on the guide plate (FE DOHC). Rotate the crankshaft two turns in the direction of rotation to ensure correct mounting alignment mark on a pulley of a gear belt with the mark on the oil pump bracket (T8 DOHC).
17. Tighten the bolt of the tension device of a gear belt.

Torque: 37-52 N ??? m

18. Check the deflection of the timing belt. If the gap does not meet the technical requirements, loosen the locking bolt tensioning device and repeat steps 3-5 above. If necessary, replace the spring tensioner.

Deflection of a belt:
FE DOHC: 7,5-8,5 mm / 98 N (10 kgf)
T8 DOHC: 9,0-11,5 mm / 98 N (10 kgf)
19. Establish directing plate of a gear belt on a pulley of a gear belt of a cranked shaft.
20. Install the upper and lower toothed belt guard and new gaskets.

Torque:
FE DOHC: 6,86-9,8 N ??? m
T8 DOHC: 7,84-10,8 N ??? m
