The automatic transmission includes a torque converter, planetary gears, and the clutch and brakes with hydraulic and electric drive.

The torque from the engine to the transmission is transmitted through the torque converter, which performs the function of coupling liquid and acts as an automatic clutch and transmits the torque during acceleration.

Control automatic transmission electronic control unit is made. The electronic unit on the basis of more extensive data sets the optimal operation of the gearbox for each operating mode. To control the transmission modes are absent, switched manually, such as economical and sporty. The control unit on the basis of information about the vehicle speed, accelerator pedal position, as well as the manner of movement chooses the appropriate gear. Also, at the time of gear change affect traffic conditions, towing a trailer and wind.

If a defective sensor or solenoid valves, switches transmission control for emergency operation, and a fault is recorded in the memory unit.
Towing the vehicle with an automatic transmission on wheels should be done at a distance of 50 km with a maximum speed of 50 km / h.

The transmission represents very difficult unit and its repair should be performed by a specialized workshop. Before repairing the gearbox is necessary to determine the nature of the fault, which can be an electrical, mechanical or hydraulic.

Do not remove the gearbox from the car for repairs before will not be professionally detected a fault, since most tests require that the transmission is in the vehicle.
