Repairing the steering shaft



The steering shaft

1 - steering wheel lock;
2 - universal joint;
3 - the steering shaft assembly;
4 - an intermediate shaft;
5 - coupling bolts

Dismantling

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Securely attach the steering wheel lock, then a chisel and hammer, make an indentation (groove for a screwdriver) in the heads of two bolts bolt steering lock.

A warning

Fix the steering column in a vice jaws close brass or cloth.


2. Secure the steering column in a vice and a screwdriver, turn the lock bolts.
3. Remove the lock with the steering column.
4. Remove the two coupling bolts of the universal joint connecting the steering and intermediate shaft.
5. Remove the intermediate shaft.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check the wear sleeve and the steering column universal joint connections backlash and smoothness of movement and lack of noise in the process.
2. Ensure that the steering shaft does not turn the key in position LOCK, and freely rotated in any other position.

Assembly

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Install the intermediate shaft pinch bolt.

Torque: 18-26N ??? m

2. Install the universal joint shaft on the steering column and intermediate shaft, and then tighten the two clamping screws on the universal joint.

Torque: 18-26N ??? m

3. Install the steering column lock. Screw new bolts steering lock, and tighten them until the bolt heads are not srezhut.
