Adjusting the tension of the timing belt

Regularly check the tension of the timing belt and, if necessary, adjust the tension. When you loosen the belt wear down his teeth, in addition to the possible leap belt sprockets of the crankshaft and camshaft, which leads to disruption of setting the timing and engine power loss.
You will need: face head "10", "12", "19" key "12" pliers.
1. Remove the decorative motor cover (see. "Removing and installing decorative casing of the engine").

3. Check the tension of the timing belt with the touch of a finger force of 10 kg to the middle branch of the toothed belt between pulleys of camshafts and measure the deflection of the toothed belt - belt should deflect 9-11 mm.
4. To adjust the belt, remove the pulley from the crankshaft of the engine drive belt power steering pump and air conditioning compressor (see. "Replacing the drive belt power steering pump and air conditioning compressor") and the alternator drive belt and the water pump (see. "Replacement alternator drive belt and a water pump ").
5. Remove the water pump pulley (see. "Replacement of the water pump").

8. Loosen the bolt 1 fixing the tension wheel and turn the crankshaft two revolutions - under the influence of a spring clip 2 takes the operating position and the belt will tighten.
9. Tighten the bolt of the tension wheel.
10. Install all previously removed parts and components in the reverse order of removal.
11. Adjust the tension of the belt drive power steering pump and air conditioning compressor (see. "Check and adjust belt drives the air conditioning compressor and the power steering pump") and the alternator drive belt and the water pump (see. "Check and adjust drive belt tension and generator water pump ").
