Oil consumption

For internal combustion engines for oil flow is meant that the amount of oil that is consumed in the combustion process. Not to be confused with its consumption of oil leakage, which occurs as a result of leakage of the oil pan, cylinder head cover, and so on. D.

Normal flow occurs due to the combustion of oil, respectively, a small amount of oil in the cylinder, and exhaust gas particle abrasion. Furthermore, the oil is consumed due to high temperature and high pressure in the engine. On oil consumption also influence external factors such as driving style, manufacturing tolerances. In the normal case, the consumption is so small that the prescribed intervals between oil changes required only a small topping it.

The oil should be topped up if the mark achieved "Nachfull" (top-up) (the maximum amount of oil to refill 2 liters).

A warning

Do not pour motor oil above the marking "Maximal". If too much oil is filled, the excess should be drained. Otherwise, the catalyst may be damaged, ie. K. Unburned oil gets into the outlet.
