The system of monitoring the oil level
Models of release with 06.1993 05.1997 of city Oil control system consists of the oil level sensor, which is screwed through a hole to drain the oil, and the warning lamp on the instrument panel. The oil level in the sump begins to control oil temperature +60 ? C.

The oil level in the sump defined by the float. At low oil under the influence of the magnet in the float chamber is closed contact 8 (Fig. 5.19), the instrument panel warning lamp. By lowering the level of oil associated with the traffic conditions, the control lamp blinks first, then lights constantly. In order to avoid unnecessary warnings related to the driving modes, such as sharp turn, the control unit is set relay delay. It shall include warning lamp, if the signal is a low level of oil is supplied for 60 seconds. To avoid false readings when the engine is cold, when the oil is cold long runs down to the oil pan, the oil level sensor is equipped with a bimetallic valve, which prevents the oil drain from the float chamber. The oil level sensor allows the inclusion of a control lamp on the instrument panel shortly before the oil level will be minimal. Models of release with 07.1997, with the maintenance system ASSYST The oil level sensor transmits readings block active service system ASSYST. The microcomputer-based received information from various sensors, such as the level and oil temperature, coolant temperature, speed, engine speed and load, registers the actual state of the engine oil and the care plan for the engine. One of the indicators of the "aging" of oil - the content of the iron particles, which increases sharply after 5000 km when driving short distances. Mercedes-Benz has developed a special sensor. It is heated at a high or low oil level, determines the required oil changes as well as changes in the structure of oil, such as additives in it metal, fuel or coolant, and warns the driver. Information on the high or low oil level is displayed on the instrument panel display. Automatic display Automatic display takes effect no earlier than 60 seconds after starting the engine and an oil temperature of more than +60 ? C. If the oil level exceeds the norm, it is displayed on the instrument panel symbol "oiler" with the inscription ?OLSTAND UBER MAX?, accompanied by an audio signal. Excess oil thus must be removed. If the oil level in the sump is low, the instrument panel will show the symbol "oiler" with the inscription ?OLSTAND UNTER MIN?, accompanied by an audio signal. In this case as quickly as possible to fill the oil level to normal. Too small amount of oil in the instrument cluster will show the symbol "oiler" with the inscription ?OLSTAND MINIMUM? (the oil level is below the permissible), accompanied by an audio signal. In this case, you should immediately make up for the oil level to normal.
NOTE For vehicles that do not have multi-pointer close to the symbol "oiler" lights up ?-2L?. |
A WARNING Information on the level of oil in the casting process is not changed. On the resulting amount of the engine oil system must be requested manually. |
Call information manually Switch off the ignition. Ignition switch set to "2". After 10 seconds the instrument cluster will show ?OLSTAND ANZEEIGEN?? (?Show your oil?") And symbols light up "nipple" and "clock". At this time, for one second, double-click the installation to its original position counter of daily run. After a while, a message appears, for example, ?1,0 L OI einfullen? (?Pour 1.0 liters of oil"). The message will appear at once: an oil temperature of +60 ? C the waiting time will be 1 min.
Removal and installation of the oil level sensor Withdrawal 1. Remove the bottom panel of the engine compartment. 2. Drain or pump out via the vacuum unit motor oil.

4. Remove the bolt 4. 5. Tilt the oil level sensor 3 and remove it from the oil pan. Setting 6. Replace the oil level sensor 3 with a new O-ring 2 and tighten the bolt 4 to 10 Nm. 7. Connect the sensor connector 1. 8. Replace the bottom panel of the engine compartment. 9. Fill the engine with engine oil. 10. Warm up the engine during a test drive and check the tightness of the sensor. Supplement for 6-cylinder V-engine: 1. Remove the bottom of the oil pan. 2. Remove the bottom mounting screws (Torx) oil level sensor near the pipe for pumping oil. 3. Bolts tighten the oil level sensor to 10 N ? m.
Checking the oil level sensor The warning lamp lights up the oil level with the oil level is normal and the engine running 1. Disconnect the oil level sensor. 2. An ohmmeter check the contact between the sensor and the "weight". 3. In the absence of contact, remove and replace the sensor. 4. If the contact sensor is, check the circuit from the sensor to the instrument cluster. 5. If the connection is OK, then the cause may be a defect in the instrument cluster. The warning lamp does not illuminate when the ignition 6. Perhaps the blown bulb. Replace it. The warning lamp does not illuminate when the engine is running, the oil temperature more than +60 ? C and the oil level is below the minimum mark 6. Disconnect the sensor. 7. Check the contact between the sensor connector and "weight". 8. In the above-described conditions, the contact sensor should not be. Possible open circuit. 9. If the lamp does not turn on, if there is contact on the sensor, then the lamp burns out. 10. If there is no contact at sensor, remove, check and if necessary replace the sensor.
