The design of the steering column

25 - The input node of the steering mechanism

PERFORMANCE ORDER

All the self-locking nuts and bolts must be replaced without fail!

  1. The design of the steering column shown in the illustration, which includes all the links in the text.
  2. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
  3. Remove the steering wheel (32) and a spiral pin drum (A45) (see. Section Removal and installation of the steering wheel and the spiral track of the drum of the steering column).
  4. Remove the combination switch (S4) (see chap. Onboard electric equipment).
  5. Remove the instrument cluster (see chap. Onboard electric equipment).
  6. Disconnect the connector (a) of the adjusting lever.
  7. On models with AT remove the steering lock lock switch (36h), - tighten the lock latch and pull back, removing it from the mounting clips.
  8. Disconnect the connector (s) and remove the transponder.
  9. Release the clamp and disunite pin (b).
  10. Release the latches securing the assembly of the combined stalk (S4), and remove the last shirt with a steering column (71).
  11. Remove the cover to the left under the dashboard.
  12. Give the bottom nuts (71b) and remove the upper bolts (91) securing the jacket (71).
  13. Fed up, remove the jacket (71).
  14. Give the self-locking nut (25d) mounting bolt and separate the lower steering column shaft (80a) of the input node (25), rack and pinion, - not to use force, if necessary slightly unclench locking screwdriver!
  15. Fed up, remove the steering shaft (80a).
  16. Check the condition of the shaft (80a), in case of need make replacement.
  17. Replace the damaged boot (80b), - track correctness of landing anther.
  18. If the jacket needs to be replaced, remove the ignition key cylinder (see. Section Removal and installation of the cylinder ignition).
  19. Installation is in the reverse order - track correctness of landing of all components. First, tighten all fasteners so that the position of the shirt could be correct, then, achieving the desired result, with demanded effort tighten the upper bolts first, then the bottom nuts. Track reliability of fixing of contact sockets.
