Removal and installation of the power unit



The engine assembly is removed from the transmission.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. On models corresponding complete set (code ET2) activate the service mode of the emergency call TELE AID (see. Section Activate / deactivate the service mode of the emergency call AID TELE).
  1. Turn on the auxiliary battery and connect it to a standard battery, then disconnect the negative cable last, pole terminal insulate. If the battery is removed from the vehicle, disconnect from it as a positive wire.

    7 - Auxiliary battery
    8 - terminal positive wire module
    9 - negative terminal wire module
    W10 - Ground Battery
  1. Remove the resonator chamber of an air path with Water Collector (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  2. Remove the panel located inside the cover (1) electrical motor.
  3. Disconnect the wiring connectors (A) on the control module ME-SFI (N3 / 10), - press down and turn the locking latch lever.
  4. Remove the glovebox (see chap. Body).
  5. Disconnect the connector on the host module division unit / engine (x35 / 26).
  6. Disconnect the wiring (4) of the front module perception and activation signal (SAM) (N10 / 1).
  7. Pull the cabin wiring harness of the engine through a passage opening in the body panel - try not to damage the insulation.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors of lambda probes (G3 / 3), G3 / 4, G3 / 5 and G3 / 6) (see. Illustration details the installation of the power unit on petrol models).
  9. Remove left ignition coil (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).
  10. Pull the cover (2) of the node connecting the auxiliary power supply for emergency run.
  11. Otboltite wire (3) from the terminal 30 of the terminal block (X4 / 30) 30 motor circuit.
  12. Disconnect the starter ground bus W11 / 5.
  13. Disconnect the wiring connector (X22 / 2) transmission.
  14. Otboltite from the frame ground bus (W49) transmission.
  15. Remove the bolt (13) and remove the speed sensor on the transmission output (B49) (speed sensor), - Prepare the replacement O-ring.
  16. Installation is in the reverse order - with the appropriate configuration (code ET2) deactivate service mode of TELE AID (see. Section Activate / deactivate the service mode of the emergency call AID TELE).
  17. Finally, make the DTC reading and clearing of system memory on-board self-diagnostic scanner using STAR DIAGNOSIS (6511 1801 00) (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. On models corresponding complete set (code ET2) activate the service mode of the emergency call TELE AID (see. Section Activate / deactivate the service mode of the emergency call AID TELE).
  2. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).
  3. Pull the cover (1) node connecting the auxiliary power supply for emergency run.
  4. Otboltite wire (2) from the terminal 30 of the terminal block (X4 / 30) 30 motor circuit.
  5. Remove the resonator chamber of an air path with water reservoir (3) (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  6. Remove the cover (4) on the rear bulkhead of the engine compartment.
  7. Unlock and disunite contact sockets (5 and 6) on the control CDI (N3 / 9), - access to the terminal (5) opens after disconnecting the connector (6).
  8. Remove the cover to the left under the instrument panel and disunite connectors (7 and 8) in the front mounting fuse / relay (N10 / 1).
  9. Release engine wiring harness (9) through the passage opening in the body panel - try not to damage the insulation.
  10. Release the clip (10) and remove the bandages (11) on the line Sprayhood and cooling path.
  11. Disconnect the connectors (12) at the output of preheat systems (N14 / 2).
  12. Disconnect the wiring connector (X22 / 2) transmission.
  13. Otboltite from the frame ground bus (W49) transmission.
  14. Installation is in the reverse order - with the appropriate configuration (code ET2) deactivate service mode of TELE AID see. Section Activate / deactivate the service mode of the emergency call TELE AID).
  15. Finally, make the DTC reading and clearing of system memory on-board self-diagnostic scanner using STAR DIAGNOSIS (6511 1801 00) (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the ground wire (W10) from the battery (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).
  2. Follow the procedures of paragraphs 3 through 6 (see. Above for M612).
  3. Unlock and disunite contact sockets (5, 6 and 7) on the control CDI (N39 / 2), - access to the terminal (6) is opened after disconnecting the connector (6).
  4. Disconnect the connector (8).
  5. Release engine wiring harness (9) through the passage opening in the body panel - try not to damage the insulation.
  6. Disconnect the ground bus (10).
  7. Release the clip (11).
  8. Remove the output connector system of preheat circuit 30 (N14 / 2x3).
  9. Releasing the bayonet, disunite the central pin wiring (X22 / 2) AT.
  10. Otboltite from the frame ground bus (W49) transmission.
  11. Installation is in the reverse order - with the appropriate configuration (code ET2) deactivate service mode of TELE AID (see. Section Activate / deactivate the service mode of the emergency call AID TELE).
  12. Finally, make the DTC reading and clearing of system memory on-board self-diagnostic scanner using STAR DIAGNOSIS (6511 1801 00) (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).

Removal of the power unit

All self-locking fasteners be replaced without fail.

Petrol models

463.250 / 249 (G320 / 500 engines M112.945 / 113.962)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Drive the vehicle on a lift (see. Section Poddomkrachivanie / hanging out of the car and transport in case of an accident).
  2. Remove the trim motor with integrated air purifier (2), - lift the cover up and lift it the cylinder head covers (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  3. Disconnect the air intake hose to the top of the wheel arches.
  4. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).
  5. Remove the lower boot (1) the engine compartment.
  6. Drain the cooling system (see chap. Current care and maintenance or cooling systems, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  7. Drain the engine oil (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
  8. Remove the fan with viscous coupling (3) and the casing (7) of the fan assembly (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  9. Remove the radiator cooling system (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  10. Set the screen to protect the radiator / condenser air conditioning system (metal or plastic sheets measuring about 400x680x1 mm).
  11. Disconnect the engine wiring harness (See above.).
  12. Disconnect the cooling path line (9) from the water pump assembly.
  13. Remove built into the intake duct thermoanemometric sensor measuring the mass of air (MAF) (B2 / 5) (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  14. Disconnect the vacuum line (5) of the actuator assembly of brake pressure in the rear portion of the inlet conduit.
  15. Disconnect vacuum line (6) from an inlet conduit.
  16. Siphon the power steering fluid from the reservoir steering pump (11).
  17. Disconnect from the steering pump assembly (11) return (12) and discharge (13), hydraulic lines - immediately plug the open ends of the lines and fittings in advance cooked jams.
  18. Relieve the pressure in the fuel system through the service valve (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust), and then disconnect the fuel line from the gasoline pipe (4), - ready to collect fuel watered.
  19. Remove line cooling path (14).
  20. Remove the accessory drive belt (15) (see. Section Replacing the accessory drive belt and the tension mechanism of its elements) - need to fix the tensioner rod 5 mm in diameter.
  21. Disconnect hoses (17) from the oil lines (18), - immediately plug the open ends of lines prepared in advance stoppers.
  22. Remove exhaust system assembly (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust) (except models 463.249).

If the removal of the engine is made by reason of its failure, catalytic converters (23) should be checked for the presence of the chip, which must be removed before installation.

  1. Otboltite from the frame support (20) the suspension of the power unit.
  2. Post unit, lifting it by the front rigging eye - make sure that no components have appeared clamped.
  3. Otboltite compressor K / V (21) of the timing cover and, without disconnecting the line refrigerator, take him aside.
  4. Lower the power unit - again make sure that no components have appeared clamped.
  5. Otboltite propeller shaft (24) from the coupling flange transmission - shaft bolts must be replaced without fail.
  6. Remove the collar (25) and disconnect from the transmission shift rod (26).
  7. Remove the cross-member of the frame (27), complete with rear supports transmission (see. Section Removal and installation of support of the power train) (except models 463.249).
  8. Connect the lifting slings to the two lugs of the power unit.
  9. Lower unit and fed back, remove it from the engine compartment.
  10. Installation is in the reverse order.
  11. Check the unit for signs of coolant leaks.

If the cylinder head gaskets have been replaced, should be pre-warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.

  1. Check the ATF, if necessary, make appropriate adjustment (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
  2. Start the engine and check for signs of leakage of working fluids.
  3. Finally, make the DTC reading and clearing of system memory on-board self-diagnostic scanner using STAR DIAGNOSIS (6511 1801 00) (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).

463.246 (G55 AMG engine with M113.982)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Corresponding illustrative material is presented in the illustrations Preparing to remove the power unit on the petrol models (1 of 2), Preparing to remove the power unit on the petrol models (2 of 2), details the installation of the power unit on the petrol models, which are all found in the link text .
  2. Open the hood and fix it in an upright position.
  3. Make discharge air conditioning systems, - address to experts.
  4. Remove the trim motor with integrated air purifier (2), - lift the cover up and lift it the cylinder head covers (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  5. Disconnect the air intake hose to the top of the wheel arches.
  6. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).
  7. Remove the radiator grille (see chap. Body).
  8. Remove the front crossmember.
  9. Disconnect the communication lines and remove the auxiliary fan.
  10. Disconnect the line from the coolant system K / V, - immediately plug the open ends of lines prepared in advance stoppers.
  11. Remove the cooler K / V.

  1. Drain the cooling system (see chap. Current care and maintenance).

  1. Disconnect the oil pipe from the oil-water heat exchanger (see. Conjugated. Illustration - Details of fastening of the oil pipes to the oil-water heat exchanger compartment models G55 AMG)

  1. Follow the procedures of paragraphs 8, 9 and 11 to 19 for 463.250 / 249 (G320 / 500 engines M112.945 / 113.9620).
  2. Remove the vacuum line from the intake bridge to the purge valve.
  3. Disconnect the line from the refrigerator compressor K / V.
  4. Disconnect hoses (17) from the oil lines (18) extending to the cooler ATF, - immediately plug the open ends of lines prepared in advance stoppers.
  5. Follow the procedures of paragraphs 22, 23, 27 and 28 for 463.250 / 249 (G320 / 500 engines M112.945 / 113.9620).
  6. Turn out two bolts and remove the support from the transmission cross beam of the frame.
  7. Connect the lifting slings to the two lugs of the power unit.
  8. Lift the front of the unit and remove it from the engine compartment.
  9. Installation is in the reverse order.
  10. Make the filling system K / V and check for signs of leakage.
  11. Proceed in accordance with the instructions given in paragraphs 33 to 36 for 463.250 / 249 (G320 / 500 engines M112.945 / 113.9620).

Diesel models

463.323 (G270 CDI engine with 612.965)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  2. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).
  3. Remove the finishing panels to the cylinder head cover.
  4. Drive the vehicle on a lift or Poddomkratte car and establish it on props (see. Section Poddomkrachivanie / hanging out of the car and transport in case of an accident).
  5. Remove the lower engine compartment anthers.
  6. Drain the cooling system (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
  7. Remove the air cleaner (1) (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  8. Remove the resonator chamber of the intake air path with water reservoir (2) (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  9. Remove primary catalytic converter (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  10. Remove viscous fan clutch cooling system (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  11. Remove the heat sink (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  12. On equipped with system K / V models (code H02) set the screen protecting the radiator / condenser air conditioning system (metal or plastic sheets measuring about 400x680x1 mm).
  13. Disconnect the line (4) Power steering fluid cooling path.
  14. On equipped with system K / V models (code H02) Remove the auxiliary cooling fan (5).
  15. Remove the low-temperature cooler (6) (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  16. Remove the intercooler (Intercooler) (7) turbocharging systems (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  17. Disconnect hoses (8 and 9), the cooling path.
  18. Give two screws and, without disconnecting the connectors from the choke, separate from the transverse tube of the frame tube (10).
  19. Remove thermofilter (11) of the circulating pump (M44) air cooled engine, and then remove the pump assembly itself.
  20. Remove the circulating pump (M13) Coolant (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  21. Disconnect the pressure line (12) from the steering pump (13), - prepare for the replacement seal rings hollow bolt choke connector.
  22. Disconnect the connector (14) at the output of preheat systems (N14 / 2).
  23. Disconnect the right (15) and left (16) vacuum lines of the turbocharger and the mixing chamber respectively.
  24. Disconnect the vacuum line of the engine (17) from the line (18) Servo brake pressure.
  25. Disconnect the engine wiring harness (See above.).
  26. Disconnect line (19) of the cooling path from the fuel preheating device (20).
  27. Release fuel line (21) on the frame in the arch of the left front wheel.
  28. Remove the speed sensor on the transmission output (B49), release the wiring from the support bracket filler ATF, - prepare a removable lining and piping bandage.
  29. Remove the clip (23) and disconnect from the transmission shift rod (22).

When installing a new thrust do not forget to make her adjustment (see chap. Automatic transmission).

  1. Connect the lifting slings to the two lugs of the power unit and the last post on the winch, - make sure that no lines, and compounds were found not pinched.
  2. On models corresponding complete set (code H02), disconnect the wiring from the compressor K / V, then otboltite compressor and move it to the side without disconnecting the refrigerator line.
  3. Give fixing nuts (27), disconnect the propeller shaft (25) from the coupling flange (26) of the transmission, - the nuts must be replaced on a mandatory basis - if necessary, release fasteners, and slightly tilt the transmission.

When installing the shaft in place, ensure that passed between the support flanges of the distribution unit and automatic transmission.

  1. Lift the engine and remove it through the top of the engine compartment.
  2. Support the bottom of a suitable transmission jack - to remove the crossbar installed on the back of her support of the suspension of the power unit will have to raise the transmission.
  3. Remove the rear suspension support of the power unit (see. Section Removal and installation of support of the power train)
  4. Remove the screws (28 and 29) securing the front suspension towers of the power unit to the frame.
  5. Remove the support brackets of cooling ATF lines on the right frame rail.
  6. Disconnect the breather hose from the top of the crankcase AT - the engine will have a slightly pull forward.
  7. Lower the rear of the power unit and by submitting it forward and remove from the engine compartment - Make sure not to be damaged by any suspension components and body panels.
  8. Installation is in the reverse order - with the appropriate configuration (code service mode) Deactivate system TELE AID (see. Section Activate / deactivate the service mode of the emergency call AID TELE).
  9. Fill and "bleed" hydrostrengthening steering system (see chap. Suspension and steering).
  10. Make the removal of air from the cooling system (see chap. Current care and maintenance).
  11. Proceed in accordance with the instructions given in paragraphs 33 to 36 for 463.250 / 249 (G320 / 500 engines M112.945 / 113.9620).

463.333 (G270 CDI engine with 628.962)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the ground wire from the battery (see chap. Systems of an electric motor).
  2. Open the hood and fix it in an upright position.
  3. Remove the bottom panel protect the engine compartment.
  4. Drain the cooling system (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  5. Remove the air cleaner (1) (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  6. Remove the built-in assembly of the left and right intake duct sensors MAF (B2 / B2 and 6/7) (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  7. Remove the air inlet duct (2) mud flaps left and right wings (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  8. Disconnect from the tee (4) the vacuum line (3) off the valve inlet port.
  9. Clenching choke lock connector (5) Disconnect the vacuum lines (6 and 6a).
  10. Remove the resonator chamber of the intake air path with water reservoir (7) (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  11. Disconnect the engine wiring harness (See above.).
  12. Remove the front grille (10) (see chap. Body).
  13. Remove the fan casing (11) (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  14. Disconnect vent line (12 and 13) of the cooling path.
  15. Remove the condenser (14) complete with heat sink (15) (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  16. Remove the low-temperature cooler (16) (see chap. System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning).
  17. Disconnect the cooling line (17 and 18), - immediately plug the open ends of lines prepared in advance stoppers.
  18. Remove the cooling system circulating pump (M13).
  19. Disconnect the cooling line (19) of the circulation pump air cooled engine (M44).
  20. Release the right cable hood.
  21. Evacuate the working fluid from the reservoir of the steering pump (20).
  22. Disconnect from the steering pump (20) / its tank standpipe (21) and return (22), respectively, the lines - immediately plug the open ends of the lines and fittings prepared in advance stoppers.
  23. Disconnect the line of ATF (23) from the transmission fluid cooler (24).
  24. Remove the nut (25).
  25. Disconnect the compressor inlet line (26) of the expansion valve (27) of K / V, immediately plug the open ends of the lines and fittings pre-cooked jams, prepare replacement sealing elements.
  26. Pre-pinching, disconnect the supply line (9) and return (8) of fuel - ready to collect spilled fuel.
  27. Remove the speed sensor on the transmission output (B49).
  28. Separate the sensor assembly (B49) to the cable (29) from the engine, - release the cable from the support plates (30) oil filler cap (31), remove obvyaznye bandages.
  29. Remove the exhaust system without a rear silencer (see chap. Power supply system and exhaust).
  30. Otboltite driveshaft (32) from the coupling flange (33) of the transmission, if necessary release the fasteners and slightly tilt the transmission.

When installing the shaft in place, ensure that passed between the support flanges of the distribution unit and automatic transmission.

  1. Remove the clip (36) and disconnect from the transmission shift rod (35).

When installing a new thrust do not forget to make her adjustment (see chap. Automatic transmission).

  1. Connect the lifting slings to the two lugs of the power unit and the last post on the winch, - make sure that no lines, and compounds were found not pinched.
  2. Support the bottom of a suitable transmission jack and lift it slightly to remove the back support of the power train.
  3. Remove the rear suspension support of the power unit.
  4. Remove the screws (37 and 38) fixed to the left frame (37) and right suspension towers of the power unit.
  5. Lower the rear of the unit and by submitting it forward and remove from the engine compartment - Make sure not to be damaged by any suspension components and body panels.
  6. Installation is in the reverse order.
  7. Fill and "bleed" hydrostrengthening steering system (see chap. Suspension and steering).
  8. Proceed in accordance with the instructions given in paragraphs 33 to 36 for 463.250 / 249 (G320 / 500 engines M112.945 / 113.9620).

Removal and installation of supports of the suspension of the power unit
