Models with multi-point electronic fuel injection

The power supply system consists of a fuel tank installed under the floor in the rear of the car, the electric fuel pump is installed in the fuel tank, fuel filter, fuel line and return line. The fuel pump supplies fuel to the fuel reservoir, which serves as a reservoir for the four fuel injectors which inject fuel into the intake ports. The fuel filter installed in a pipeline leading from the fuel pump to the fuel manifold and is used for cleaning the fuel supplied to the injectors.

This section mentions model "Phase I" (produced before June 1993) and "Phase II" (manufactured after June 1993). On vehicles with an engine capacity of 1.6 liter multi-point fuel injection system (engine code GA16DE) installed, only models starting with "Phase II" (manufactured after June 1993). On vehicles with an engine capacity of 2.0 liters, the car model ("Phase I" or "Phase II") can be determined by the shape of the intake manifold. On models "Phase I" throttle body is set on the basis of the intake manifold, and the manifold goes up to the cylinder head; fuel injectors are located on top of the intake manifold and readily available. On models "Phase II" throttle body mounted on top of the intake manifold, and the manifold is lowered down to the cylinder head; fuel injectors are less accessible.

A warning

In carrying out many of the operations necessary to remove or disconnect the fuel pipe, which can lead to fuel leakage. Gasoline is very dangerous and volatile liquid and when working with them requires special care.

A residual pressure remains in the fuel tube for a long time after the vehicle was in motion. Before disconnecting any fuel lines, release pressure from the fuel system, the instructions given in section 6.3.2.6.
