Models with engine capacity of 1.6 liters |
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. |
2. Remove the air filter housing, the instructions given in Section 6.3.2.2. |
3. Squeeze the retaining clips and disconnect sockets of connection from the throttle potentiometer, the additional air valve, air flow sensor and solenoid valve to increase the speed of the engine at idle. |
4. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle cam. Loosen the lock nut and adjusting nut and remove the cable sheath from the mounting bracket. |
5. Remember or mark position of installation of the vacuum and air hoses to connect them correctly when installing the throttle body, then, release fixing collars (where fitted) and disconnect the hoses from the throttle body. |
6. Release fixing clamps, then disconnect the coolant hoses on both sides of the throttle body hoses and plug the holes. Do it quickly in order to minimize the loss of coolant. |
7. Unscrew and remove the mounting screws that hold the throttle body to the intake manifold, and remove the throttle body from the car. Peel off the pad and throw it away; At installation use a new one. Plug the hole of an inlet collector with a clean cloth so that it no dirt or foreign objects. |
Models with engine capacity of 2.0 liters |
8. Release the fastening clamp and disconnect the air inlet duct from the throttle body. |
9. Disconnect the connection of the throttle potentiometer. |
10. On models "Phase I" gently disconnect the connecting rod mechanism of the accelerator by a ball joint on the throttle body. |
11. On models "Phase II" disconnect accelerator cable from the throttle cam. On models with automatic transmission, also disconnect the cable downshift. |
12. All models release fixing collars, disconnect the coolant hoses from the throttle body and plug the holes with hoses. Do it quickly in order to minimize the loss of coolant. |
13. On all models, remember or mark position of installation of the vacuum and air hoses to connect them correctly when installing the throttle body, then, release fixing collars (where fitted) and disconnect the hoses from the throttle body. |
14. If necessary, remove the intake manifold bracket to gain access to the bolts fastening the throttle body. |
15. Unscrew and remove the mounting screws that hold the throttle body to the intake manifold, and remove the throttle body from the car. Peel off the pad and throw it away; At installation use a new one. Plug the hole of an inlet collector with a clean cloth so that it no dirt or foreign objects. |
