Frequency of idling and the maintenance of carbon monoxide in the exhaust gas

Given the complexity of the fuel injection system, it is not recommended to regulate the idling speed of the engine and the CO content in the exhaust gases. The adjustment is best carried out at service stations Car Volkswagen, having special equipment.

Check and adjustment is carried out in a warm engine with a correctly set ignition timing and a working exhaust system.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Start the engine and run at idle until the oil temperature reaches 80 ? C. In this monitor, the coolant temperature does not exceed the normal, since during the check and adjust the cooling fan must be switched off.
2. Stop the engine, turn off all power consumers (headlights, radio, air conditioning, etc.).
3. Pull the plug and seal the crankcase ventilation hose.
4. Connect the control tachometer and analyzer.
5. Start the engine and run at idle. If toplivoprivody been disconnected from the injectors or replaced with new ones before checking and adjusting the idle speed, increase the frequency of up to 3000 min -1, then leave the engine idling for 2 minutes before checking and adjusting.
6. Check the idle speed, it should be in the range of 900-1000 min -1 for vehicles produced before 09.1984, at 800-1000 min -1 for vehicles with the release of 09.1984, 850-1000 min -1 for vehicles air-conditioned. If the speed is different from the above, adjust the screw 20 (see. Fig. Air filter and intake pipe of the engine with the fuel injection system).
7. Check the level of carbon monoxide CO in the exhaust gas, it must be equal to 0.5-1.5%. If the CO level is different from said adjust it. To do this, remove the plug from the meter body 4 air flow and the screw 5 adjust the CO content in the exhaust gases. To increase the amount of CO, by turning the screw 5 in a clockwise direction to reduce - counterclockwise. When rotating, do not push on the screw: it can cause displacement of the plate meter air flow and affect the adjustment.
8. Remove the tool from the hole in the meter body 4 and increase the speed for a few seconds. You can not increase the speed when the tool is to turn the screw 5 is not taken out of the meter body 4, as it can clamp in the housing. Check CO content in the exhaust gases.
9. Check and, if necessary, adjust the idle speed.
