Removing the pump



If you decide to remove the pump for subsequent repair, keep in mind that this procedure is only available to highly qualified specialists. All engines require it, as already mentioned, subsequent adjustment (1Z on the engine it is performed only by using special test equipment). If you do decide to take the high-pressure fuel pump, proceed as follows:
- Depending on the design required for clear access to the pump elements of the air supply system (air filter housing on motor 1Z - MAF sensor);
- Remove the cylinder head cover and the outer casing of the timing belt;
- Set the piston of the first cylinder in the TDC;
- Remove the timing belt pulleys with a pump and a camshaft;

- Loosen the nut and bolts injection pump pulley, the pulley previously having stopped against rotation, for example, using an improvised lock (Fig. 3.21);
- Accurately capture the double-arm puller toothed pulley pump, install a stripper vnatyag, then sharply hit a hammer on the central bolt of a stripper - it will lead to the release of the pulley.

A WARNING
The pump motors AAZ and 1Y release since October 1994 used a composite pulley connected by three bolts. In no case do not loosen the central nut shaft pump, as it will change the start time of injection.

Remove the puller, then remove the bolts or nuts and pulley woodruff key;
- Unscrew the union nuts at the rear of the fuel pump and injectors at all, then remove the piping assembly from the engine;
- Disconnect the fuel hose nozzles drain from the discharge pipe;
- Disconnect the connector from the stop valve;
- On all engines except 1Z, disconnect a cable of an accelerator and the accelerator of cold start of the fuel pump;
- The engine 1Z disconnect connectors from the fuel cut valve unit and adjust the amount of fuel injection, pre-marking connectors, in order not to mix them up when you connect;
- On all engines except 1Y and AAZ, issued after October 1994, when .: removable pump will be installed in place, then using a waterproof felt-tip pen mark the relative position of the body pump and front mounting bracket. This will save an average accuracy of the installation of the initial moment of the injection pump at installation;
- On engines and AAZ 1Y release since October 1994, disconnect connectors, pre-marking them, from the bottom of the valve pressure fuel injectors, the injection duration of the sensor, check valve on the turbocharger (the latter - on engines AAZ), the shutoff valve is fully open throttle ( on the engine); if the car is not equipped with air conditioning; Disconnect from the acceleration mechanism idle speed; in cars with air conditioning, disconnect the vacuum hose from the acceleration mechanism idling speed; in cars, where the electric pump does not have separate connectors, disconnect the connector and wire of "weight";
- Unscrew the pump bolt to the rear bracket;
- Loosen the nuts or bolts to the front pump bracket. When loosening the last nut or bolt, hold the hand pump housing;

A WARNING
In no case do not loosen head bolts distributor injection pump, because it may lead to serious damage.

- Make sure that the high-pressure pump no more connected, and remove it from the engine.

Installation of pump
When installing a new pump, orient it so that the screws are screwed penny openings: it will provide a maximum range of adjustment. If you install the old pump, put it on the marks made during removal. The installation procedure is as follows:
- Set the pump to the engine, screw a bolt of its fastening to the rear bracket and tighten to 25 N ?� m;
- Screw the fuel pump mounting bolts to the front bracket and tighten to 25 N ?� m;
- On engines 1Z, AAZ, 1Y release in October 1994 with the installation of a new pump insert a small funnel into the connection of the drain pipe of the fuel fill its cavity clean fuel;
- Connect the fuel lines to injectors and pump head, then tighten the nuts attaching them to 25 Nm;

NOTE
The inner diameter of the bolt to drain pipe smaller than the inner bolt to the discharge line and is marked with the words ?�OUT?�.

- Connect the pressure and drain the fuel line to the fuel pump, tighten the hollow bolt attaching them with new goals;
- Connect the drain hose to the drain pipe nozzles;
- Set the toothed pulley shaft pump, after inserting the woodruff key, screw the nut and tighten the pulley bolt (do not forget the washer) and tighten them by hand;
- Establish a pulley in the correct position by inserting the rods or screws of suitable diameter into the hole for alignment of the pulley and the holes in the front mounting bracket pump. Provide a minimum clearance of a pulley in this position;
- Set the timing belt, check and, if necessary, adjust the pump unit with respect to the camshaft. After tighten the belt and tighten the fuel pump mounting pulley previously having stopped it with a clamp (see. Fig. 3.21);
- Set the outer casing of the belt and the cylinder head cover, if necessary using a new gasket;
- Restore all electrical connections to the pump. If you are installing a new pump on the engines and AAZ 1Y release since October 1994 Connect the electrical connector;
- On all engines except 1Z, connect the pump to the accelerator cable and accelerator of cold start, if necessary, adjust their tension;
- Set the air filter (air flow meter and the engine 1Z) and connect it to the air ducts;
- Necessarily perform due diligence, the data in Table. 3.2.
