Indicators of deterioration of tires

The tire tread grooves are "tire wear indicators" height of 1.6 mm arranged at a right angle to the direction of translational motion of the tire. These indicators are in the range of six to eight (depending on the manufacturer) are placed at equal distances around the circumference of the tire. Markers on the sidewall of the tire (for example, letters "TWI" or the icon in the form of a triangle) shows the location of the tire wear indicators.

A warning

Intensive tire wear contribute to sports manner of driving, intensive accelerations and sharp braking.

Tires can be used to achieve the profile depth of 1.6 mm, that is, the groove should have a depth profile across the surface of the tire is not less than 1.6 mm. However, for safety reasons it is recommended tire change with a depth profile of 2 mm.

M + S tire on snow have adequate grip when the profile depth of at least 4 mm.

It should examine the tire for cuts and set their depth. If cuts reach a cord, steel cord will corrode from penetrating moisture.

Tires should be replaced at the latest when they are worn down to the tread wear indicator.

Worn tires do not provide, especially when driving at high speed on a wet road, the necessary adhesion to the road surface. In addition, when used tires significantly faster comes hydroplaning (loss of grip on wet road surface).
