Removal and installation of the cylinder head



Removal of a head with the engine mounted on the car, in the following order:
- Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery;
- Remove the top casing from the engine;
- Remove the protective cover from the ignition distributor;
- Disconnect the high voltage from the ignition distributor;
- Remove the guide wires of high voltage;

- Unscrew nut 2 (Fig. 3.43) fastenings of the cylinder head cover and remove the cover 1;

- Unscrew the screws 8 (Fig. 3.44) fastenings of the top section of the intake manifold and remove the top section of the assembly from the throttle body and intake manifold;

- Unscrew the nut 1 (Fig. 3.45) fastenings of a casing of the exhaust manifold and remove the cover 2;
- Loosen the flange nuts and lift the receiver 3 exhaust system to check for CO;
- Unscrew the nut fastening sections 5 of the exhaust manifold and remove the section 4;
- Remove the timing chain;
- Remove the ignition distributor;
- Remove the chain tensioner timing;
- Unscrew the screws 7 (see. Fig. 3.43) fastenings timing cover and remove the cover 6;

- Loosen the fastening bolts 9 Goloks cylinder in the reverse order of their tightening (Fig. 3.46), one turn in one pass and remove bolts and washers;
- Remove the 5 cylinder head;
- Remove the gasket 8 cylinder head;
- Unscrew the screws 6 (see. Fig. 3.44) fastenings of the bottom section of the intake manifold and remove the bottom section 7.
Attaching the cylinder head is executed in the following order:
- Establish a new lining 8 (see. Fig. 3.43) on the cylinder head dowel pins inscription ?�OBEN / TOP?� up, check the alignment of holes pads with the corresponding holes of the cylinder;
- Install carefully the cylinder head 5;
- Insert the bolts 9 cylinder head with washers and tighten them by hand;

A WARNING
When assembling it is recommended to install new bolts of the cylinder head.

- Tighten the screws 9, the cylinder head in the order shown in Fig. 3.46, first 40 N ?� m, then to 60 N ?� m and tighten to 180 ?�;
- Install the timing chain onto the camshaft sprocket, check the coincidence of timing marks;
- Replace the cover 1 of the cylinder head with a new gasket and tighten the nut 3 2;
- Set the upper section 3 (see. Fig. 3.44) intake manifold and tighten the bolts 8. In this case, you first need to tighten the bolts to the lower section of the intake manifold, then the rear support;
- Complete the remaining operations in the reverse order of removal.
After installation, adjust the accelerator cable. After starting the engine, check for leaks of the fuel system, cooling system and exhaust system.

A WARNING
If you are replacing the hydraulic tappets, do not let the engine for 30 minutes after completion of the work.
