The pistons and connecting rods



Removing the connecting rod and piston group is performed in the following order:
- Remove the cylinder head (see. Sect. 3.2.5);
- Remove the oil pan and the oil pump;
- Set the number 1 cylinder piston to BDC crank;
- Before removing the cover and disassembly of the connecting rod and the piston rod and mark the position of the lid relative to the cylinder rod, put on the bottom of the piston arrow pointing to the front of the engine for subsequent proper installation of the piston;
- Unscrew the nuts of the connecting rod cover and remove the cover;
- Push the piston rod of the cylinder wooden handle of a hammer;
- Remove remaining pistons with rods assembled by performing the above operations;
- Check the presence of a finger generate the top of the cylinder wall;
- Remove the retaining ring piston pin from the piston grooves;
- Press out the piston pin from the piston by means of a special mandrel;

- Remove piston rings with special tool (Fig. 3.51), or the old dipstick (see. Sect. 3.1.13).

A WARNING
Always remove the piston rings in the direction of the piston crown.

Installing the connecting rod and piston group is performed in the following order:
- Heat piston in hot water;
- Set in the piston rod, placing it in line with the previously established marks, and press in the piston pin into it;
- Install the piston rings with special tool (see. Fig. 3.51), or the old probe (see. Sect. 3.1.13). On the set of piston rings inscription ?�TOP?� or ?�OBEN?� should be directed to the bottom of the piston;
- Establish an appropriate connecting rod bearings into the bottom head of a rod;
- Place the piston rings on the piston cylinder number 1 at 120 ?� to each other;
- Turn the crankshaft to an angle corresponding to the BDC Piston number 1;
- Lubricate the oil with the cylinder wall, piston, big end bearings and crank pin of the crankshaft;

Install the piston and connecting rod assembly into the cylinder number 1, compressing the piston rings special device (see. Fig. 3.35).
- Insert the liner rod cover and lubricate it with engine oil;
- Establish a cover of a rod according to earlier put labels;
- Tighten the connecting rod cap nuts to 30 N ?� m, then turn them through 180 ?�;
- Cranked shaft and make sure that it rotates without jerks;
- Set the other pistons with rods in the assembly;
- Install the oil pump and the oil pan;
- Set the cylinder head.

WARNINGS
1. The pistons must be replaced all at once complete.
2. When you wear one of the cylinders is subjected to grinding all cylinders.
