Positions selector

On the dash is a display that shows in what position is the selector.
A warning

Never but the move did not move the lever to position "R" or "P". Transmission may be damaged.

P - Parking lock.

The drive wheels are mechanically locked.

The selector must not be moved to this position only when the vehicle is completely stopped. Before turning on and off position "P" must be pressed the lock button on the handle of the selector. Before turning off this position when the ignition is further press on the brake pedal.

R - Reverse.

Position backing should be included only when completely stopped the car and at engine idle. Before changing the position of the "R" position from "P" or "N" to press the brake pedal and push the lock button in the handle of the selector.

In the position "R" when the ignition burn reversing lights.

N - Neutral position (idling position).

In the derivation of the selector from position "N" at a speed of 5 km / h, and when the vehicle is stationary and the ignition switched on, press the brake pedal and push the lock button on the handle of the selector. However, not necessarily when the push button from the lock position "N" is transferred to the selector position "D".

D - Long-term progress.

Five programs are switched from low to higher and vice versa automatically depending on the load on the engine and the speed.

Under certain driving conditions it is advisable to temporarily use one of the following positions.

4 - Position for "hilly" sections of the road.

Such a position of the selector is recommended when a certain driving conditions at the position of the selector in the position "D" occurs, frequent switching from the 4th to 5th gear and vice versa.

To translate the selector in this position you must press the lock button in the handle of the selector. Automatically switch up and down the 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th transmission depending on engine load and speed. 5th gear is locked. Through this also increases the braking effect of the engine fuel cut.

3 - Position for mountain roads.

This position is recommended for prolonged ascents and descents. Automatically switched up and down the first, second and third transmission depending on engine load and speed. 4th and 5th transmission remain blocked to avoid unnecessary switching to higher gears. It also increases the efficiency of engine braking.

2 - Position mountain road sections with steep slopes.

The choice of this position is recommended when driving on steep inclines. When this position you must press the lock button on the handle of the selector. The car is moving only in the 1st or 2nd gear. 3rd, 4th and 5th transfer blocked to avoid unnecessary switching to higher gears. This achieves the greatest possible effect of engine braking.

Cruise control in the "2" position of the selector can not be used.

With manual switching DESC can move to position "4", 3 "and" 2 "to switch to a lower gear automatically takes place only when, after switching is not exceeded the maximum permissible engine speed.

The unit forced proactive shift to a lower gear ("kick-down")

This device provides the maximum according to the terms of the motion acceleration of the vehicle. Once the pressure on the accelerator pedal exceeds a certain threshold value, depending on the engine speed and the speed is switched to one of the lower gears. Switching back to the nearest higher gear will follow only when reached the maximum value of the engine speed.

A warning

Keep in mind that on a slippery road driving wheels at a compulsory anticipatory switching to a lower gear can start to slip.

Recommendations regarding the selection of positions

Engine start

The engine can be started only when the selector lever position control positions "N" or "P".

Positioning for movement

Before you move the lever in one of the positions when the vehicle is stationary and the engine running should always depress the brake pedal.

If you select positions in the vehicle is stationary, do not push the accelerator pedal.

If while driving accident was the selector is set to "N", it is necessary to transfer the lever in a position forward course take your foot off the accelerator pedal and wait for the idling of the engine.

A warning

With the engine running at the position of the selector must be in any position motion to keep the car with the foot brake, as even at idle the engine torque transmission to the wheels completely interrupted - avtomobip "creeps."

If the vehicle is stationary choose one of the positions of movement, can not in any case an uncontrolled pressure on the accelerator pedal (including increasing the supply of fuel by hand from the engine compartment). The car will start to move once - and it can happen under certain circumstances, even when the parking brake is applied.

Before you make any action with the engine running, set the selector lever to position "P" and apply the parking brake.

Accelerates

Select one of the movement position (R, D, 4, 3, 2). Wait until a transfer switch in the gearbox and the power flow reaches the drive wheels (in this case there is a faint jerk) Only depress the accelerator pedal.

Stop

When short-term stop, such as at traffic lights, there is no need to move to the position "N". It is sufficient to hold the car with the brakes. The engine, however, must work only at idle.

Parking

On the road with a slope you should first tighten the parking brake, and then put the selector in the position of the parking lock. With this order of operations, the locking mechanism will not be too heavily loaded and could then be easily derived from this selector position.

Towing with a view to starting the engine

Towing or pushing a car with an automatic transmission with the purpose of starting the engine can never lead to start the motor.
