Working with threaded connections
The new engine in the car or loosening of bolts, nuts, pins, etc. no difficulties. But if the car has an advanced age, there are problems, especially in those cases where parts are subjected to prolonged exposure to road grime. When working with threaded connections the following guidelines: - When loosening the nuts onto the studs protruding portion of the thread should always handle a wire brush to remove dirt and rust. Then handle the connection penetrating lubricant; - If necessary to turn screwed into the weld nut of the bolt (usually the body) should be as far as possible, the handle portion of the thread on the reverse side of the penetrating lubricant. In such compounds the bolt head is easily torn off or welded nuts; - Screws with slotted head or Phillips, sometimes it is possible to turn on only with great difficulty. Screwdrivers slip out of the slot and damage it. To avoid this, it is necessary to establish a screwdriver on the screw, and sharply hit it with a hammer. In most cases, unable to easily unscrew the screw; - Screws, referred to as Torx, turning away with the help of special nozzles, which can be purchased in the tool kit; - When loosening hexagon socket head screws or screws with heads polyhedral (polygonal mesh, in most cases, 12 corners) can also cause problems. The first condition is to be a thorough cleaning of the deepening of the internal hexagon (for example, using a fine screwdriver) to allow the installation of an Allen key or multi-faceted. If possible, you should use the appropriate head. Before unscrewing the screws can be applied to one hit over the head with a hammer to bring the screw from its steady state. However, it is sometimes necessary to use an Allen key with a curved handle. Consequently, the unscrewing can be difficult. We offer the following solution. Insert the key into the screw head and apply a small open-end wrench on the end of an elongated Allen key. Then, firmly hold the key in a perpendicular position, loosen the screw by turning the open-end wrench. This avoids the danger of twisting the bent wrench at jamming screws. Small head with hexagon socket is also possible to grasp pliers with sliding (fig. 12), especially in the case if the internal hexagon steel rounded edges. When compressing, do not position your fingers in a place marked by an arrow - the tool can snap;
- Problems can sometimes arise also when loosening nuts or bolts, steel edges are rounded off by the use of key "wrong" size (characteristic of second-hand cars). Depending on the position of the nut can be sawn or cut down a chisel along the thread. You can also mention the "raskalyvatel nuts." It is shown in Fig. 13, its screw is tightened until the nut until it burst. This screw thread is not damaged;

- Self-locking nuts are fixed due to their ability to locking, which is lost after loosening. If self-locking nuts are used, they should always be replaced; - It sometimes happens that comes off the bolt head. To remove the remainder of the thread of the threaded hole at the center of the bolt hole is drilled and use so-called tap with a screwdriver-hand thread. It can be purchased at auto parts stores. It is inserted as a tap in the drilled hole. When tightening the tool cuts into the rest of the bolt, which, if completed successfully, then unscrew. Another solution is boring fragment to about the diameter of the bolt thread (slightly less) and calibration tap hole; - Hairpin turn away with two nuts tightened. When loosening wrench set on the inside of the nut, while screwing - on the outside; - Tightening bolts are sometimes damaged thread, made in the details of an aluminum alloy. The shop sells threaded inserts Heli-Coil. They can be inserted into the old screw hole in accordance with the appended instructions.
