Checking the coolant level
| Fig. 12. Coolant expansion tank
|
The coolant level in the expansion tank should be located between the two marks ?Max? and ?Min? (Fig. 12). The expansion tank is made of white plastic and blue lid is closed. Checking and opening of the expansion bottle for refilling the liquid is carried out only on the cold engine. If the engine is hot, let it cool down before you unscrew the expansion tank cap to avoid splashing of hot liquid, because the expansion tank when the engine is warm and running, it is under pressure. In the absence of special coolant is allowed to use clean "soft" (e.g., rain) water, but its use improves the freezing temperature, enhances corrosion and scale formation. The presence of water in the expansion tank at low temperatures is not allowed. Moreover, it is inadmissible use seawater, brackish water, and alkali water softener.
