Repair and maintenance

Most of the maintenance work, the car can be conducted independently. Nevertheless, in the absence of the necessary tools, measuring instruments or relevant experience, or just in the garage when the job can be done faster, it is advisable to carry out maintenance of the car to the service station ?Volkswagen?. During operation of the vehicle there is a deterioration of its technical status as a result of wear of the friction surfaces of the parts, adjusting the parameters of violations, aging rubber products and other phenomena. To prevent faults and increase the life of the vehicle, it is important to carry out regular inspections and checks.
Regularly check the oil level in the crankcase of the engine, the coolant expansion tank, brake fluid hydraulic brakes, tire pressure, the presence of fluid in the washer reservoir, performance wiper and washer, alarm system, brake lights, tail lights, near and far headlights.
Check every 15 000 km (or 12 months) - tightness of lubrication and cooling systems, the state of the exhaust system, the backlash steering V-belt tension (for the 2.0-liter engine), protective covers of power shafts, steering rack, tips of steering draft and constant velocity joints. Clean the air filter element and replace the wiper gum. Check the brake discs, the capacity of the rechargeable battery, power brakes, shock absorbers and tires. Change the engine oil with the filter and adjust the lights.
Every 30 000 km (or 24 months), complete all the operations carried out after a run of 15 000 km, and also check the level of oil in a manual transmission or an automatic transmission, parking brake, clutch play. Replace the spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter element, brake fluid and coolant. Some of these works are described below. The book also contains the service maintenance intervals and the name of work.
