Starter

Driving the starter

To start the internal combustion engine with forced ignition of air-fuel mixture needs a small electric motor - starter. In order that the engine could even start, the starter must rotate it with a speed of 300 rev / min. This starter must operate flawlessly and the battery should be charged.

The starter consists of the pole, driving and collecting shells. In the pole and the collector housing is the anchor, the collector, and the brush holder. The brush holder are graphite brushes wear parts. With strong worn graphite brushes work the starter is broken.

The drive enclosure is the drive pinion. If you turn on the ignition starter receives a voltage, the magnetic switch, sitting on the starter housing, throws on the worm gear threads in the direction of the flywheel and enter them into engagement, beginning to rotate the engine. Once the engine starts, the flywheel, in turn, speeds up and throws back the starter gear.

When you run a large current consumption occurs starter, so as part of the service must pay attention to the excellent state of the cable connections. Corrosive connections clean and lubricated with petroleum jelly.
