The circulation of the coolant is regulated by a thermostat. While the engine is cold, the coolant is circulated only in the cylinder head, cylinder block and the heat exchanger. With increasing temperature, the thermostat opens the large coolant circulation circuit. The coolant passes through the radiator downward, while cooling radiator ribs extending between the air flow.

To enhance the flow of air VWT4 has two thermostatically controlled fan. The fans are controlled by a two-stage thermal sensor, which is screwed into the water tank of the radiator on the right. When the coolant temperature is 84-89 ? C, the thermal sensor includes a first fan stage (middle speed). If the coolant temperature rises to 90 ? -95 ? fans turn on completely.

4-cylinder gasoline engine is the fan, the motor is through a thin wedge, belt drives the second fan. To a fan on stage 1 was rotated at medium speed, the resistance is connected preliminary. All other engines are equipped with two electric fans. Three relays off, which are right on top of the cladding of the radiator, the fan speed is adjusted. In the first stage the fans run at medium speed and are included in the job sequence. In the second stage the relay includes fans in parallel and at full throttle.

Depending on the operating conditions of optimal operation of the fans is provided barrage ring, plastic plate which during the warm-up phase of the engine shut down. The engine thus can warm up faster. When the engine reaches operating temperature records are automatically opened, thanks to the set behind the radiator thermostat, which is stretched against the spring.

Thanks to the constant work of the fan increases engine power and reduces fuel consumption.
A warning

The fans can turn on and off with the ignition. The residual heat in the engine compartment can cause even multiple inclusion.
