Checking the pressure created by the fuel pump

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Remove the rear seat cushion and remove the inspection panel of the fuel pump.
2. To release the pressure in the fuel system, disconnect the connector of the fuel pump, start the engine and wait until it stops due to running out of fuel from the fuel lines and the fuel line.

A warning

Before releasing remove the fuel pressure in the fuel system since otherwise, the fuel under pressure will rapidly flow out of the fuel system.

3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and connect the connector of the fuel pump.
4. Connect the adapter to the fuel filter gauge (09353-24000, 09353-24100, 09353-38000) and tighten the bolt torque.

Torque: 25-35 N ??? m

5. Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
6. Additional wires submit pressure fuel pump connector and check that there are no leaks from the fuel pressure gauge connections.
7. Start the engine and let it run at idle speed.
8. Measure the fuel pressure.

Fuel pressure: 350 kPa
9. If measurements are made in steps 7 and 8 do not correspond to the desired value of fuel pressure, determine the cause and make the necessary repairs.
Condition
Probable Cause
Remedy
Fuel pressure too low a. Dirty fuel filter. a. Replace the fuel filter.
b. Leaks from the fuel return, due to poor sealing of the pressure regulator. b. Replace the pressure regulator.
The fuel pressure is too high a. Sticking the fuel pressure regulator. a. Replace the pressure regulator.
b. Clogged or bent fuel return pipe b. Replace the fuel return pipe
10. Stop the engine and after 5 minutes to read the pressure gauge fuel that should not change. If the fuel pressure decreased significantly, determine the cause and make the necessary repairs.
Condition
Probable Cause
Remedy
The fuel pressure after the engine is reduced slowly a. leaking fuel injector a. Replace the fuel injector
The fuel pressure after the engine is reduced very quickly a. Open the control valve of the fuel pump Replace the fuel pump
11. Remove the fuel pressure.
12. Disconnect the hose and pressure gauge.

A warning

Close the connection with a towel to avoid splashing of fuel caused by residual pressure in the fuel line.

13. Replace the O-ring at the end of the hose.
14. Connect the hose from the fuel line and tighten the coupling nut torque.
15. Check tightness of fuel system.
