Antifreeze - the general information

Do not suppose antifreeze hit on open sites of a body and the painted surfaces of the vehicle. Random splashes and traces Strait rinse immediately with plenty of water. IN NO EVENT WILL never leave antifreeze stored open containers and do not leave puddles of spilled coolant on the floor of the work area / garage. The sweet smell of antifreeze can easily attract the attention of animals and children. Antifreeze is highly toxic, and its hit in an organism even in small amounts can be fatal. Check local regulations for disposal of used coolant regulations in many regions a system for separate collection. In no case do not drain the coolant on the ground or into the sewage system.

Currently, arranged production of non-toxic anti-freeze - ask in shops of automobile accessories - but even it must meet certain requirements for disposal.

Keep anti-freeze in an airtight container and immediately repair any leaks of the cooling system of your vehicle.

Filling the cooling system is carried out with a mixture of water and ethylene glycol-based antifreeze, which lowers its freezing point to -30 ? C or lower, depending on the climatic conditions of the area of operation of the vehicle. Furthermore, the use of such a mixture provides protection for internal surfaces of the system against corrosion and increases the boiling point of the coolant.

The system should be emptied, washed under pressure and filled with fresh coolant in accordance with the schedule of routine maintenance of the car (Head of Adjustment and routine maintenance). Using old or contaminated coolant are more likely to lead to an early exit system failure and causes the development of its corrosion and scale formation. Dilute the antifreeze should only distilled water.

Before you start adding antifreeze, check the status of all hose connections of the system. Antifreeze is very fluid and has the ability to seep through tiny holes and leaks. Under normal conditions, the engine coolant should not be spent, so in the event of a coolant level should immediately determine the cause of the leak and fix it.

The exact composition of the cooling mixture depends on the weather conditions in which to operate a vehicle. The mixture should be at least 50% antifreeze, but its contents should never exceed 70%. Before you refilled the cooler consult the map of the requirements for its composition on the label on the container. Hydrometer to measure the specific gravity of the coolant can be bought in almost any shop of automobile accessories. Be sure to use the type of antifreeze that is recommended for use by the manufacturer of the vehicle (see. Specifications to the Head of Adjustment and routine maintenance).
