Description of the principle of operation and diagnosis of the speed control (Tempostat)

Tempostat serves to keep the vehicle speed at the chosen level by managing throttle position by the servo motor and drive cable connecting the engine with a thrust of the throttle. The system includes servo motor, sensor, brake light switch, clutch switch, control switches and connectors and vacuum hoses. Check some of the characteristics of the system requires the use of special equipment, and is outside the qualification of the average mechanic-fan. Below is a description of the basic procedures to identify common problems of functioning Tempostat.

Components of the speed control (Tempostat)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Locate and check the fuse circuit system.
  2. Ask the assistant to include brake lights themselves make their fires (voltage stoplights and, in some cases, from the clutch switch deactivates the speed control system).
  3. If the brake lights do not work, or, on the contrary, they are not going off when you release the brake pedal, correct the cause of failure and recheck Tempostat. Check the clutch switch (Chapter Clutch and transmission line).
  4. Visually inspect vacuum hoses connected to the actuator and check the control rod between the actuator rod and Tempostat throttle. If necessary, make a replacement.
  1. Check the condition of the vacuum (A) and electrical (C) connectors Tempostat.
  1. Check the status of the connection node Tempostat with traction throttle (arrow).
  1. In the speed control system uses a plurality of sensor signals. In these models, the speed sensor is in transmission (Manual transmission) or the transfer case. Give the bolt and disconnect the sensor, then rotate the sensor watch for indications of the connected digital voltmeter (Head of the Power supply system and exhaust). If the resistance of the cable during rotation is not changed, the sensor is defective.
  2. Make car trial runs, checking serviceability of functioning of the speed control. In case of any problems drive away the car in dealer branch for a full diagnosis and repair system.
