Dismantling of a head of cylinders

New or remanufactured cylinder heads for most types of engines can usually be purchased at the dealership offices of companies or car manufacturers in the auto service shops. In view of the need to use some special tools for disassembly and check the status of heads, and also because of the inaccessibility of many interchangeable components for the mechanic-fan may be wiser and cheaper to purchase immediately recovered the head (s) you spend time on the disassembly, inspection and restoration of the old one (s).

Dismantling the cylinder head requires removing the intake and exhaust valves associated components. If you have not yet done so, give nuts rocker arm, and then remove the rocker arm and the spherical bearing with stud head. Carefully, label all components, or put them in a clearly marked box - at assemblage they should be established on the former places.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. The valves are stacked together with attendant components so that during assembly they can be set in place.
  1. For storage of the valves and related components it is possible to use a plastic bag with a label attached to it - this guarantees the ability to install components in the assembly in its guides.
The inscription on the label - "Inlet, 3-cylinder"
  1. Use the special tool compress a spring of the first valve and remove crackers of the cutting lock (using the needle-nose pliers or a magnet). Gently release the tool and remove the spring plate, a spring and its seat (if used).
  2. Remove the valve from the head, then remove the guide sleeve valve stem seal. If the valve is wedged in the guide sleeve (does not pass through it), push it back and remove the burrs on the edges of the grooves and crackers end of the rod with the help of needle file or whetstone.
  1. If the valve does not pass through the guide tube, remove the burrs from the edges of the grooves and crackers end of the rod with a thin file.
  1. Repeat for the remaining valves. Remember to add the components of each valve individually.
  2. After removing and storing the right way valve train components head can be thoroughly cleaned and inspected. If you intend to work a full engine overhaul, pre-complete disassembly of the engine.
