Replacing the seals of the engine crankshaft

If you find traces of oil leakage through the seals of the crankshaft first check is not blocked and the crankcase ventilation hoses are not pinched any crankcase ventilation system, repair if necessary. If the oil leak does not stop, replace the seals.
An indication of the need to replace the crankshaft front oil seal is leaking oil from its edge. This oil is sprayed onto the rotating crankshaft pulley, resulting oily turn the entire front part of the engine and the timing belt.
You will need: all the tools necessary to remove the timing belt (see. "Replacement of the timing belt"), as well as a screwdriver, hammer, Tool for fitting oil seal.
To replace the front crankshaft oil seal, proceed as follows.
1. Disconnect a wire from the plug ?-? the storage battery.
2. Establish the piston of 1st cylinder TDC compression stroke (see. "Installation of the piston of the first cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke").
3. Remove the timing belt (see. "Replacement of the timing belt").

4. Remove the sprocket timing belt from the crankshaft.
5. Having hooked a screw-driver, remove the seal from the front cover of the cylinder.
6. Grease a working edge of a new oil seal with engine oil and place it in the front cover, oriented the working edge into the engine.

7. Press in the oil seal into the front cover of the cylinder until it stops with a mandrel. The mandrel can be used as a head of the tool kit of appropriate size, or old oil seal.
8. Install all removed parts and components of the timing in the reverse order of removal.
9. Adjust the belt drive the air conditioning compressor and the power steering pump (see. "Check and adjust belt drives the air conditioning compressor and the power steering pump") and the drive generator and water pump (see. "Check and adjust drive belt tension and generator water pump ").
The reason for lubrication of clutch discs could be leaking oil seal input shaft gearbox and crankshaft rear oil seal.
At the engine and transmission oils, different smell, so when a certain skill by smell, you can determine which of the glands damaged.

HELPFUL ADVICE
There is another method for determining the type of oil. Drip oil in water, a thin layer of poured into the container. Gear oil will spread across the surface of the water in the form of an iridescent film engine - will remain in the form of droplet-like seed of lentils.

To replace the rear oil seal, proceed as follows.
1. Remove the gearbox.
2. Remove the clutch (see. "Removing and installing clutch").
4. Inspect the oil seal. If the stuffing box leaks broken, it will be seen the bottom of the drip oil.

5. Having hooked a screw-driver, remove the oil seal.
6. Apply engine oil to the new oil seal lip, set the seal into the cylinder slot, oriented the working edge into the engine, and carefully thread the sealing lip on the crankshaft.

7. Using the mandrel press-fit the oil seal into the slot until it stops.

HELPFUL ADVICE
As the mandrel can use the old packing.

8. Place the removed components in the reverse order of removal.

NOTE
When installing the flywheel Coat the threads of bolts of its fastening with Loctite to secure the thread or podobnym.a
