Replacing cylinder head gasket

If you find a leak of engine oil or coolant in the joints of the cylinder head with the cylinder block, remove the head and replace the gasket. Leaks can also occur due to warpage of the head due to overheating.
You will need: dodecahedral key "12", using a flat-blade and Phillips-nose pliers.
1. Reduce the pressure in the supply system (see. "Reducing the pressure in the fuel system").
2. Disconnect a wire from the plug ?-? the storage battery.
3. Remove the cylinder head cover (see. "Replacing the cover gasket cylinder head").
4. Remove the nozzle assembly of the throttle pipe supplying air from the air filter (see. "Removing and installing the air filter").
5. Remove the timing belt (see. "Replacement of the timing belt").

6. Disconnect a reception pipe from katkollektora (see. "Replacement catalytic converter").
7. Disconnect the wires from the terminals to the injectors (see. "Removal, installation and check the nozzles and removing the fuel rail").
8. Disconnect the wires from the sensor to the engine coolant temperature (see. "Replacing sensor engine management system").
9. Disconnect the wires from the sensor to the camshaft, from the absolute pressure sensor, the regulator of idling and the throttle position sensor (see. "Replacing sensor engine management system").
10. Remove the ignition coil and bracket assembly of attachment (see. "Removing and installing ignition coils").
11. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle assembly.
12. Disconnect the supply hose from the coolant pipe thermostat housing (see. "Replacement of thermostat").

Yellow mark on the head (in fig. 5.4 These bolts are indicated by 3 and 4) and eight long bolts 1.

13. Remove the two short and eight long bolts of the cylinder head to the block.

NOTE
Replacing cylinder head gasket
To gain access to some of the bolts fastening the cylinder head is necessary to rotate the camshafts.

14. Remove the bolts from the apertures in the head.
15. Remove the cylinder head with the receiver and the exhaust manifold ...

HELPFUL ADVICE
To remove the cylinder head is more convenient with the assistant, as it is quite heavy.

16. ... and remove the gasket.
17. Clean the gasket surface (they must be dry and clean), the cylinder head and cylinder block, remove oil from the threaded holes in the block under the head bolts.

18. Check the flatness of the surface of the head of the block adjacent to the block of cylinders. To do this, put a line on the edge surface of the head along the middle of the first, then diagonally, then probe to measure the gap between the plane of the head and ruler. Replace head if the gap exceeds 0.1 mm.
19. Install the cylinder head in sequence, return to removal, taking into account the following:
- Be sure to install a new cylinder head gasket, re-use pads are not allowed;
- Be sure to replace with new head bolts as they deform when tightened and become unsuitable for reuse;

Driving tightening the cylinder head
Fig. 5.5. Driving tightening the cylinder head

- Tighten the head bolts to the engine is cold in the sequence shown in Fig. 5.5, in six stages:
Stage I - tighten the bolts to 49 Nm (4.9 kgf-m);
Stage II - in the reverse tightening, loosen the bolts of the cylinder head;
Stage III - re-tighten the bolts to 39.2 Nm (3.9 kgf-m);
Stage IV - tighten the bolts on 90 ?;
Stage V - tighten the bolts another 90 ?;
Stage VI - tighten the bolts to 76-81 N ? m (7,6-8,1 kgf ? m).
20. Install all previously removed parts in reverse order of removal.
