Cars KIA Sportage - Abstract



This guide explains how cars KIA Sportage II lineup of the sample in 1999 ÷ 2002.

Along with Suzuki Vitara, Kia Sportage is one of the pioneers of the compact SUV family Part-time 4WD, ie, a four-wheel drive. A characteristic feature of this family is the lack of a center differential, predetermining use 4WD mode only when driving on rough terrain with poor soils (mud, sand, snow) or on roads with a slippery or loose surface (ice, snow).

The considered models are equipped with in-line 4-cylinder 16-valve petrol engine FE series with top two camshafts (DOHC) volume of 2.0 liters and 128 hp, two-liter or the in-line 4-cylinder 8-valve turbocharged diesel engine with RF TCI top arrangement of a camshaft (OHC) and a capacity of 83 hp In accordance with the appointment of a vehicle (SUV 4 x 4), the power unit is located in the engine compartment lengthwise.

The transfer of torque from the crankshaft of the engine to the wheels of the leading front and rear axles is carried out by means of a 5-speed manual gearbox (Manual) / 4-speed automatic transmission (AT) and the transfer case connected to the axle gear through the front and rear driveshafts. The transfer case is additionally equipped with two-stage gearbox, providing the ability to downshift in the four-wheel drive mode (4L). Front wheel is standard equipped with freewheel with vacuum actuator that provides the ability to automatically turn off the wheels on the drive shaft when switching to 2H, without the need to stop the movement. Blocking cross-axle differentials are not available.

Optional rear axle can be equipped with a limited slip differential limited slip (LSD).

Front suspension independent, double wishbone with stabilizer bar, rear - dependent, with the sucker rod guide vanes.

Steering gear hydrostrengthening, design "screw - ball nut", widely used in cars sport utility (Category SUV).

Basic brake system - hydraulic, dual circuit with vacuum gain control and dynamic brake force distribution. Front disc brakes, ventilated, rear - drum. Parking brake manual, rope, exit to the rear brakes.

In addition to the basic braking system KIA Sportage cars can be equipped with anti-lock brakes (ABS) and electronic-hydraulic brake force distribution (EBD).

At present the Russian assembly line foreign cars - the company JSC "Avtotor" (Kaliningrad) produces only petrol version KIA Sportage with a body frame structure of the 5-door station wagon with a standard or extended (Grand) body.
