Engine cooling system

All models are covered in this manual are equipped with car running at a pressure of the engine cooling system with thermostatically controlled circulation of the working fluid. A water pump mounted on the engine block and provides pumping coolant through the cooling path of the latter.

Arrangement of the main components of the cooling system (for example diesel models)

1 - Radiator
2 - Fan housing
3 - Expansion tank
4 - Fan
5 - Thermostat

6 - tube cooler
7 - Water Pump
8 - coolant level sensor
9 - Turbocharger
10 - Inlet / outlet pipes cooler

The liquid flow washes the area of location of each of the cylinders in the block, and then sent to the rear of the engine; laid in the molding block and the cylinder head cooling channels provide intensive heat removal from the intake and exhaust ports, areas of installation of spark plugs / plugs and guides the exhaust valves; on diesel models coolant is also used to remove excess heat from the turbocharger.

Driving a large coolant circuit (for example, the diesel models)

Since the start of the engine cooling system passes through three modes of operation: on pervometape until the coolant temperature has risen above a certain value, it circulates on a small circle, from a working circuit which eliminated the radiator. With further warming up the engine opens the poppet valve included in the system path voskozapolnennogo thermostat and connected to the circuit of a radiator. Further, the coolant temperature reaches another reference value, triggered viscous coupling drive cooling fan, which injected an additional air flow greatly increases the efficiency of the heat exchanger radiator.

In addition, the design provides a viscous clutch fan off when the engine speed exceeds a certain value, when adequate heat dissipation is achieved by increasing the intensity of the air flow.

The cooling system has a sealed structure and covered with a lid radiator capable of withstanding a certain excess pressure, which increases the boiling point of the coolant, and - respectively - the efficiency of heat dissipation through the cooler. If you exceed the internal pressure in the system of a certain value (see. Specifications of the Head of System of cooling, heating, ventilation and air conditioning), opens mounted in the cover two-way pressure-vacuum valve, leading to overflow of excess coolant TIE (overflow) tube expansion tank, - go with the liquid air and then output to a pair of coolant from the tank through the organization of the last ventilation. As the cooling system and lowering the pressure therein below atmospheric excess fluid displaced from the tank automatically returns to the radiator.

On models with automatic transmission is equipped with an additional radiator tank capable of cooling ATF.

Adding coolant in the system is made through the neck of the radiator (see chap. Current care and maintenance). Correcting fluid level can be made through the neck of the expansion tank, which simultaneously also serves as the receiver accumulates displaced by excess fluid from the radiator.

Due to these design features, the system is called closed cooling as it excludes any functional loss of coolant.

Heating and ventilation of salon

The heating system comprises in the front part of the fan, a heat exchanger and equipped with deflectors sleeves dispensing outlet airflow. Hot coolant passes through the heat exchanger. The principles of operation of the control of heating / ventilation (conditioning) are detailed in Part Devices comfort of the Head Controls and operation receptions.
