Check the ignition coil

The ignition coil is located in the engine compartment to cover the left strut.

Check spark

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check spark can only be carried out on vehicles without catalyst, since the catalyst can be destroyed by penetrating into the exhaust system and ignites the fuel.

When you start to not hold the ignition cable arm. Use for this well-insulated pliers or secure the cable in the correct position on the cylinder block with adhesive tape.

  1. Disconnect the ignition cable from the ignition coil to the distributor.
  1. Keep ignition cable is well insulated tongs at a distance of 5-10 mm from the masses. As the mass of only use highly conducting metal parts such as the cylinder block.
  2. Ask an assistant to start the engine. Should slip powerful blue sparks. If the spark jumps are not, check the power supply to the coil.

Check current supply

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the plug from the ignition coil and the ignition on, check if the voltage at the positive terminal. The voltage should be 12 V. If the voltage is missing, check the main fuse and wiring harness.

Verification of the primary winding

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Measured using an ohmmeter resistance between terminals and compared with the value in the table.

Checking secondary winding

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Measure with an ohmmeter resistance between the positive terminal and the high voltage to compare the obtained value with the value in the table.

The required

Engine The voltage of the primary winding The voltage of the secondary winding
All engines up to 9/89 MY. infinity 6 - 30 ohms
Petrol engine and injection engine (EOI) with 10/89 Vol. 1 0, 77 - 0, 95 ohms 10 - 16 ohms
2 0 9 - 1, 1 ohm 10 - 16 ohms
Injection engine (BP, B6) with 10/89 Vol. 0, 81 - 0, 99 ohms
  1. If the result of one or both of the inspections do not correspond to the desired value, the ignition coil must be replaced.
