The engine capacity of 2.0 liters: provides inline power injector fuel injection pump from Bosch with mechanical control and integrated circuit for protivotolchkovaya (KARA), which greatly reduces the torsional vibrations in the drive phase.

Control device protivotolchkovoy switching circuits (N8 / 2) as well as a controlling device for exhaust gas recirculation (AGR) is located in the engine compartment to the right behind the front wall of the cab for housing for the control devices.

Engine volume of 2.2 / 2.5 x electronic diesel control (EDC = electronic diesel control) facilitates more precise coordination of the injected fuel with the corresponding vehicle operation, whereby, as compared with mechanical systems, a significant improvement in almost all modes.

The engine capacity of 2.2 liters: from Mercedes for the first time puts into operation an adjustable electronic fuel injection with distributor injection pump (EPIC = programmable electronic control injection). Unlike inline fuel injection pump, in which each cylinder has a plunger vapor distributor fuel injection pump equipped with only two rotating rotor pistons booster pump, and the regulation of injected fuel quantity, and the peak of the distribution (distribution start peak at higher speed in the direction of "early ejection") is carried out by means of the piston, hydraulically controlled by means of solenoid valves.

Valves run electronic control unit. The type and duration of the control pulses is dependent upon factors for the sensor elements and processed in the control device using sorted universal characteristics. These include among others, intake manifold pressure, engine speed and intake air temperature, coolant and fuel.

The position of the accelerator pedal is determined by the setting device, and a switch (R25 / 2) signals are accurately entered into the electronic control unit where they are processed and controlled. Ask a device is located in the engine compartment behind the left front wall of the cabin and is associated with the accelerator pedal through the throttle cable.

Running the engine is stopped using the solenoid valve. If its power supply is interrupted from the castle itself - the ignition switch and the anti-theft devices, or due to systemic errors in the control electronics, the valve shuts off the fuel supply to the booster pump pistons. When a fault isolation valve control device establishes a system of fuel injection quantity to "0" (zero flow), and, thanks to this, the engine stops. At the same time the fault is stored in the control unit and the instrument panel flashes EDC - a control bulb.

Additionally, with the launch of the solenoid valves in the distribution pump exhaust gas recirculation (AGR) in combination with throttling intake air (ALD) is controlled by the engine control valve, and AGR - valve and the throttle valve accordingly actuated by pneumatic dial.

Engine 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine is also equipped with electronically controlled fuel injection system in combination with in-line injection pump (M / RE).

Instead of mechanical speed control (engine capacity of 2.0 liters) electromagnetic actuator takes over the control of the injected fuel quantity in accordance with the position of the accelerator pedal. Determining the position of the accelerator pedal is carried out by means of the engine control device as the motor volume of 2.2 liters.

Along with controlling the amount of fuel injection electronic control mode of the engine, moreover, takes up regulation of exhaust gas recirculation (AGR) coupled to the throttling of the intake air (ALD) depending on speed, load and engine temperature.

The engine is stopped by means of electro-hydraulic circuit breaker (Y1 / 1), which is the side of the high pressure fuel pump. In the same building there is also a fuel sensor (terminals 1/2).

The fuel pump (13) is disposed outside the row of fuel pump nozzles. Pre-filter is located in the main body of the filter and from there follows the preheated fuel, so it is, in spite of the low ambient temperature, it has a better fluidity.
