Heating and ventilation

Heating and ventilation system with climate control system in the E-Class is equipped with two filters (1) with activated carbon and a filter (2) purifying the air in the passenger compartment. Shells carbon filters are placed behind the fan, dust filter located in front of the fan. With this in recirculation mode and air is cleaned

The car is equipped with a standard automatic heating system with electronic controls and filters the air entering the cabin, with the traditional for Mercedes separately adjustable for the driver and front passenger. As additional equipment can be installed air conditioning or climate control system (Fig. 10.1).
On E-Class models with six- and eight-cylinder engines, as well as on all cars with air conditioning to improve the circulation of fluid in the heating system is installed an additional pump with electric drive.
Fresh air in the heating system takes place via the inlet under the windshield. The air passes through the body of the heater and distributed different damper system for individual ventilation duct to the vents. When installing the heater for heating the valve system in the engine compartment gives access to the radiator heater. The radiator is in the case of a heater and heated with hot engine coolant. Supply air passing through the radiator hot plate is heated and then supplied to the interior.
Control and regulation device is located in the center of the dashboard and consists of two rotary knobs temperature and the temperature setting of the electronic system. Setpoint (nominal value) temperature sensors are compared with the current values (actual). Depending on this, it is managed double valve. Period of the opening of the discrepancy between the set and actual temperature values.
Circulation valve (twin valve) located in the mounting block on the right side of the engine compartment. Dual valve consists of two interdependent electromagnetic valves installed in a single block. Each valve is installed in the coolant circulation system and opens access to it through an appropriate heat exchanger. For example, if the total heating capacity needed, the valve is opened permanently. In contrast, when the heating is turned off valves are closed. When the temperature is regulated by an automatic ignition on, you can often hear the operation of the valve. Through the electric contact voltage is supplied to both the magnetic coil valves. Magnetic armature by the magnetic field moves downwards, and the valve member prevents flow of the coolant. When no voltage is applied, the valve is opened.
The circulation pump is installed under the air filter side on the right side of the engine compartment. Ignition and operation of the system, the pump circulates coolant through the heat exchanger. Thus it supports the main coolant pump. After stopping the engine circulation pump continues to support the circulation of cooling water independently. Thus, heating may take place until such time until all of the heat consumed by the engine. The chain connecting the pump is protected by a fuse ?3. Connecting to "weight" is carried out through an automatic control device and adjust the heating system.
