Removing, dismantling and installation of a steering column
| Removing the steering wheel |
| Socket wrench, unscrew the bottom bolt of fastening of a steering column |
| Supporting, pull the steering column |
| - Remove both the lower dash panel.
- Remove the steering wheel and instrument cluster.
- Disconnect the control gear automatic transmission of the steering column (if it is installed).
- Remove the locking steering column lock.
- Remove the Allen key bolt at the bottom of the column.
- Remove the nut lower mounting bracket and remove the column heater hoses.
- Undock combination switch harness connector.
- Remove the nuts of the top fastening of the column, carefully lower the column, so as not to damage the corrugated deformable shaft.
- For proper assembly put labels of mutual position of the tube and the inner shaft.
- Remove the combination switch and the ring holder.
- On the lower end of the steering column, remove:
??? washer, retaining ring, spring and ball bearing; ??? retaining ring, a spring, and the bearing holder (depending on the design and year). - Remove the snap ring on the upper end of the inner shaft, remove the ring and ball bearing. Remove the inner shaft.
- With Xpress mandrel bearing outer ring of the outer tube of the steering column.
- Rinse the parts (kerosene) and dry them. Spend fault detection, pay special attention to ball bearings.
- When assembling a steering column with a force push mandrel retaining ring to the spring, and apply a little grease to the bearing.
- Installation is the reverse order of removal.
