Removal, dismantling and installation of the steering without power steering

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Set the wheels for movement strictly straight. Lock the steering wheel.
  2. In the engine compartment, unscrew bolts of coupling and slide it to the steering mechanism.
  3. Apply the parking brake, post the front of the vehicle.
  4. Rasshplintuyte and unscrew the nuts longitudinal tie rod and tie rod end steering gear to the bipod.
  5. Disconnect, using a stripper, a longitudinal traction on a bipod.
  6. Note (paint) the relative position of the pitman arm and steering shaft. Using a puller, remove the self-locking nuts on the steering gear pitman arm and remove the fry.
  7. Unscrew and remove the bottom of the steering mechanism.
  8. Wash steering (kerosene) and dry it.
  9. Loosen the lock nut and bolt cover, and then turn the adjusting screw clockwise, at the same time removing the lid and gasket. Remove the pitman shaft.
  10. Remove the snap ring, remove the ring nut and adjusting ring and remove it. If necessary, use the pin key.
  11. Remove the entire assembly of the steering mechanism consisting of screw, nuts and ball storage.
  12. Stripper press out the bearing outer ring of the gear casing.
  13. Remove the oil seal.
  14. Remove the inner ring of the bearing from the shaft of the worm. If you intend to reuse these bearings, Xpress them easy blows with the outer rings; during the installation, do not change their positions.
  15. Clean the fault detection and parts for wear and damage. Node "worm / nut / balls" is replaced by the assembly.
  16. At the beginning of the assembly press in the outer ring of the upper bearing adjusting ring.
  17. Heat the bearing inner ring to a temperature of 80 ? C in hot oil and set them on the worm.
  18. Install ball cage in the outer ring of the lower bearing.
  19. Set screw and nut.
  20. Install a new oil seal on the adjusting ring.
  21. Set the separator on top of the ball bearing worm.
  22. Using a thin-walled plastic pipe segment as a mandrel, set it on the worm shaft to protect the edges of the stuffing box, move the thumbwheel to the place and wrap it several turns.
  23. Remove the mandrel and tighten adjusting ring so that the worm is rotated with difficulty.
  24. Grease the threads of the ring nut for the retaining structure and thread the ring into the crankcase.
  25. Adjust the steering worm. To tighten the adjusting ring pin key so as to select the axial play and to ensure easy rotation of the worm. Without changing the position of the adjustment ring, tighten the ring nut. Install the snap ring.
  26. Set the adjusting screw, the spacer and the retaining ring in the groove at the end of the shaft gear sector. Backlash between the head of the adjusting screw and the recess of the shaft must be removed selection of the puck.
  27. Install the shaft gear sector of gear so that the central tooth sector entered the central cavity of the worm.
  28. Install a new gasket under the flange of gear; Install the top cover, the adjusting screw into the hole of the lid. Place and rotate, tighten the cover bolts.
  29. Screw the lock nut on the adjustment screw, but do not tighten it.
  30. Place the protective cover on the shaft splines sector (you can wrap the tape), and press them onto the shaft seal using the mandrel from the metal tube.
  31. Fill the steering oil.
  32. Set the center position of the steering mechanism in the center of the filler hole is visible to the central point of the worm (well). Adjust the axial play of the shaft gear sector.
  33. Wind the cord around the splined shaft end sector and attach to it a dynamometer. Measure the force required to rotate the shaft of a gear sector relative to its middle position. This effort should be 5.0-7.0 kg. Turn the adjustment screw until you get this value without changing the adjustment, tighten the lock nut (locknut).
  34. Install the fill plug.
  35. Install in reverse order of removal. Note the force (torque) of a tightening of nuts and bolts. Make sure that when you turn the steering limit position fry or idler arm reach emphasis on cross-member. If it does not, adjust the length of the rod tie rod.
