Removing and installing airbag unit on the steering wheel

Read the safety precautions when handling airbag.

1. Disconnect the negative (-) cable of the battery when the ignition is off. You must first remove the air filter box of the passenger compartment.

Before disconnecting the cable, find out the radio security code, if any, address to Section Replacement of the battery.

2. Isolate the two poles of the battery to prevent accidental contact.
3. Pull out the steering wheel, which release the locking lever.

4. Remove from the inside through the holes in the steering wheel (1) the two screws with hexagon 30 mm, while holding the airbag unit. The illustration airbag unit already removed. (2) - Indicator switch.

5. Remove the airbag unit (3) from the steering wheel and disunite a socket (4) fuse.

6. Lay airbag unit so that the airbag steering wheel facing up.

Do not leave the airbag unit without supervision if necessary, remove it and close.

1. Place the airbag unit to the steering wheel and lock the connector until you hear a distinct click.
2. Lubricate the screws for fixing the compound of threaded connections and tighten the moment 6Nm.
3. Connect the earth cable (-) battery when the ignition is switched off. Replace the cabin air filter box. If necessary, enter the code for the radio and set the time on the clock.
